YOUTH TOUR
High school students have an
exciting opportunity to visit
Washington, D.C. for free as part
of the Rural Electric Youth Tour!
During the tour, more than 1,500
students from across the country
gather to experience our nation’s history firsthand,
learn more about electric cooperatives, meet our
elected leaders and form friendships that last a
lifetime.

Sports Camp
Scholarships

Middle school students can win an all expenses
paid trip to a basketball camp on the campus of
a major university. Students will learn life and
basketball skills from championship level coaches.
Young men will attend the Roy Williams Basketball
Camp at the University of North Carolina while
young women will attend the Wolfpack Women’s
Basketball Camp.

College scholarships are available for
high school seniors who are planning
to attend a college, university or
technical school next year. These
scholarships help support students
in our area who are looking to further
their education and give back to
their communities.

PEMC INTERNSHIPS
Piedmont Electric offers various internship
programs providing local students the unique
opportunity to gain hands-on experience,
directly collaborate with electric cooperative
staff and face real projects and challenges. Our
programs offer a wide range of operational,
technical and professional experiences.
Our interns will gain valuable experience to
help achieve their career goals by working for
a company committed to positively impacting
people’s lives every day.

Last year’s lineman intern, Wesley Stewart, from Orange High
School. Since his internship, Wesley has completed his electric
lineman certification at Forsyth Community College and plans to
begin his career in the electric industry.

educators with funding for
innovative classroom projects.
Teachers, principals and school
counselors can apply for grants of
up to $1,500. Since 2004, Piedmont
Electric has awarded local teachers
more than $376,000 and in 2015
alone, we were proud to award
more than $25,000 in grants to 23
area teachers.
