A Long Weekend in the Himachal – Take a Break and Embrace the Nature
When you think of Himachal tour packages, the first thought is Shimla and Manali. However, Himachal is
more than just these two hill stations. It is, in fact, the perfect destination for a long weekend gateway
with many treasures to be explored.
So, if you are contemplating a weekend trip to the Himachal, but still indecisive, choose Himachal tour
packages comprising of some of the following recommended destinations:
#1: Chail
Breathtaking views, lush green woods, and snow-capped mountains make Chail a perfect weekend
holiday destination. Located at a height of about 2250m above Shimla overlooking the captivating Sutlej
Valley, Chail is beautiful owing to its majestic Deodars and Chir Pinewoods. As dusk sets in, the lights of
Shimla and Kasauli shimmer below.
When you are in Chail, do not expect to do too many things. It is a perfect place to take a break and relax
in the lap of nature. Enjoy the vast woods and visit the local Sidh Baba Ka Mandir. The Maharaja’s Palace
is one of the best places to stay in Chail and enjoy royal treatment.
#2: Barog
In the Solan district, en route Shimla is the calm and petite hilly town, Barog. Its lush greenery,
panoramic views, and mesmerizing environs provide a relaxing environment for a weekend. On the path
of Kalka-Shimla toy train is the quaint hilly Barog surrounded by Choor Chandini Mountains and bound
by pine trees. There are several picnic spots like Habban and Nacchna around this town. If you drive
down a little, just out of the town, you can visit Dagshai, which was once the British Army Cantonment.
#3: Nahan
Nahan is yet another beautiful hill station of Himachal Pradesh situated on the edge of the Shivalik Hills,
overlooking green fields and a beautiful Golf course. Walk down the banks of the Renuka Lake, visit the
Renuka Wildlife Sanctuary and the Jagannath Temple, and enjoy visiting the Suketi Fossil Park. Other
places to visit include Paonta Sahib Gurudwara, Dhaula Kuan, Balasundari Temple, and Giri Nagar.
You can find many options to stay in Nahan, including Black Mango Resort, Grand View Resort, Writers
Hill etc.
#4: Bir & Billing
Located in the foothills of the enigmatic Himalayas in the Kangra Valley, Bir and Billing is a beautiful hilly
town. This place is famous for eco-tourism, meditation and aero sports. If you want some adventure
during your weekend tour, Bir and Billing is the perfect destination. Billing is 2290m above sea level
while Bir is 1400m above sea level. Both the locations are ideal for paragliding. Start from Billing and
land at Bir.

A few guesthouses and home stays in this region serve exotic Tibetian food and salads.
