The incidence of female infertility is rapidly increasing among the Indian population. India’s declining
fertility rates is a reflection of what is happening all over the world. Today almost one in six couples face
difficulty in conceiving. Up to 40% Infertility in women is due to ovulatory dysfunction. Despite being a
condition frequently treated with homoeopathy successfully, the evidence is still insufficient to define
scientificity of homeopathic treatment.
Forty infertile women underwent investigations like Ultrasonography of pelvis and diagnostic laparoscopy
when needed The cases were diagnosed by the principal investigators and co-investigators. The infertile
women were administered appropriate Homoeopathic Simillimum by the principal investigator for 18
months. The follow-up visits of these patients was done once in two weeks. Effectiveness of Homoeopathic
treatment and rate of conception in infertile females was assessed after administering Simillimum. The
investigations were repeated after treatment
Key Words: Female Infertility; PCOD; chronic PID, Endometriosis; Constitutional remedies.
Objectives: To assess the rate of conception, in female infertility, after individualized
Materials and Methods:
Age group‐18 to 40 years
beyond 40 years.
All female causes of infertility
All male causes of infertility
Primary and secondary infertility
Congenital defects in females
A total number of 40 cases were screened aged between 18-40 yrs for the study.
20 Cases of PCOS, 10 cases of Endometriosis and 10 cases with Chronic PID, who had primary and
secondary infertility were taken for study. The diagnosis was made on the basis of clinical presentation,
Ultrasonography, Diagnostic Laparoscopy, Hysterosalpingography and Urine pregnancy test. Patients were
analyzed using these investigations as and when required before and after treatment, to assess effectiveness
Results: Out of 40 cases of female infertility, 27 female patients conceived after treatment. Thus 67.5 % of
patients conceived, which is significantly high. ‘P’ value is 0.002 that is significant as per statistical value.
Among the 40 cases of female infertility, 20 cases were PCOD out of which 17 conceived, thus showing
85% positive result and ‘p’ value of 0.001, that is highly significant. Out of 10 cases of Chronic PID, 7
conceived, thus showing 70% positive result and ‘p’ value of 0.002, that is highly significant. Out of 10 cases
of Endometriosis, 3 conceived, thus showing 30% positive result and ‘p’ value of 0.206,that is not
significant. Although statistically not significant, the 3 positive results in cases of infertility due to
endometriosis is clinically significant.
Conclusion: Seven individualized homoeopathic medicines were prescribed; Natrum Muriaticum accounted
as a constitutional remedy for 60% of cases with good treatment response. Other effective constitutional
Homoeopathic remedies were Pulsatilla, Phosphorous, Sepia, Calcarea carb, Lycopodium and Silicea. So the
null hypothesis, that is, no significant difference in cases of female infertility before and after treatment is
rejected. The alternate hypothesis, that is, there is significant difference in cases of female infertility before
and after treatment is definitely true. This confirms the efficacy of constitutional Homoeopathic remedies in
the treatment of Infertility.

The Interests of Research and Collaboration:
We have a well equipped laboratory at Fr Muller Charitable Institutions and all
ngography,CT scan, MRI, etc are done here at Mangalore. I am interested and will be doing my next
research through AYUSH, Govt. of India on’Integrated approach of Yoga and Homoeopathy In the
Treatment of PCOD.’ Globally this study will help to avoid the side-effects of hormonal tablets thus
improving the quality of life. In a third world country like India, where females cannot afford
surgery; Homoeopathic medicines are simple, safe and cost effective. With the aid of yoga,
Homoeopathy can cure these cases of ovarian cysts and thereby prevent the hazards of surgery. I am
interested in presenting for future conferences and collaborations partcularly in the same field.
