Search Fund Alliance Overview

The Search Fund Alliance was founded in the fall of 2016 by a visionary group of search fund investors and
experienced CEOs who desire to help search fund entrepreneurs build better companies. Membership is by
invitation only, and our members represent the leading thinkers and practitioners in this expanding field of
investment. As the number of participants in the search fund model continues to grow, the Alliance will help to
ensure that the traditional search fund ethos is retained.
Our broad goals include facilitating mentorship, leveraging shared resources and identifying best practices, all in
the service of building better companies. The programs we have launched, or are in development, include:







Annual SFA Summit (September 14, 2017—Palo Alto, CA)
Regional roundtable discussions
Library of discussion notes from each event and key resources
Service provider directory
Operating company database that includes entities and individuals actively participating in the search
fund community

Role Overview

The Search Fund Alliance is seeking a Technology Intern who will receive a hands-on learning experience with
many of the core activities of the Alliance. The Intern should expect to develop a fundamental knowledge of the
search fund landscape as well as general training and experience in the Private Equity industry.
We are looking for:
 Highly motivated candidates who have a strong and proven interest in the traditional search fund
model, entrepreneurship and finance.
 Candidates who have a natural curiosity for how businesses work, a tenacious attitude towards
research, are resourceful and have the ability to think independently.
 Candidates who enjoy working with highly accomplished business leaders.
 Someone who derives satisfaction from dotting every I and crossing every T.
 Applicants should be currently enrolled in an MBA program at a top-tier institution.
Details of Technology Intern Role

DATA COLLECTION




Interacting with Alliance members to collect confidential information on operating companies and
investors such as board affiliations, term sheets, and contact information.
Systematically collecting data updates, particularly when new search funds are raised and new OpCos
are acquired.
Participation in phone calls with search fund investors and CEOs.

DATABASE MAINTENANCE



Will receive training on the Dynamo investor database platform as well as the Your Membership
member directory platform.
Maintaining the data integrity of the databases including:
o Inputting information in a timely manner as it is received from CEOs and investors
o Researching and filling in any missing information

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES


Weekly calls with Program Manager to discuss progress


