KENNETH WYCLIFFE MUGISHA - PROFILE

DG KennethnWycliff Mugisha is the
2017/2018 District Governor of Rotary
:
District 9211(Tanzania
& Uganda).
Governor Kenneth has been a Rotarian
for 21 years having joined the Rotary
Club of Muyenga in 1996. He has since
served in several positions in his Club as Secretary, Treasurer,
Director of Club Services and President 2011/2012
when he was awarded as the best
Rotarian at the Silver Jubilee Celebrations
for Rotary Club of Muyenga.
At the Country and District 9211, he has
served in various capacities as a
Country Officer TRF, Chair RYLA, Chair
Fundraising Uganda Rotary Home, District Strategic Planning
Chair, Chair Fundraising for DCA twice, Chair Fundraising
Uganda Rotary Blood Bank, Assistant Governor 2013/2014, Chair
District Youth Service, 2014/2015, District Treasurer –2015-2016.
DG Kenneth has attended eleven (11) District conferences
for both D9200 & D9211. He has spoken at three (3) District Conferences and has attended 19 Rotary International Conventions. DG Kenneth is a Major Donor Level 2 and a
Bequest Society Member Level 3. He is currently going to
serve as a board member on ESRAG (Environment Sustainability Rotary Action Group) for a three year term of office
(2017 - 2020)
His key achievements in Rotary have been fundraising for
Rotary activities, improving accountability at Club level,
mentoring Rotaractors and speaking at different Rotary
Clubs. DG Ken is married to Ann Judith and they have
children.
DG Kenneth is a marketer and an Entrepreneur of Kome
View Limited, a Real Estate Development Company. He
serves as a Director in two companies; Parapet Uganda
Limited, a hygiene solutions company and Totally Wired, a
company providing Solar Solutions to bridge the high cost
of electricity in Uganda.

DG Kenneth is educated in Business, Accounts and Finance at Makerere
University Business School and currently pursuing a Master’s Degree in Business Administration at the University of Roehampton in the United Kingdom.
DG Kenneth has an Honorary PhD from the University of Tennessee, USA.
With over 20 years’ experience as an entrepreneur, DG Kenneth has developed into
a businessman, mentor and advisor. His illustrative career has seen him build businesses from scratch. These businesses are employing many youth among who
are rotaractors. He has developed resilience to be able to anticipate and respond to
a variety of organisational, contextual and techno-economic and socio-political
challenges. The human cost of poverty particularly in the“developing” world fuels
his passion for improvement of education and training, adoption of sustainable
design and technologies and expansion of accountability and leadership.
DG Kenneth started his profession carrier as an officer with Uganda Revenue
Authority, joined the Sembule Group as a marketing Manager before taking
an early retirement to start business where he works today. Helping groups,
teams and organisations to strengthen leadershipat all levels, and to
build business and indigenous networks that are accountable to the communities that they serve, is Governor Kenneth’s commitment to the future.
DG Kenneth serves as Chairman on the boards of several organization
including, Medical Face International which promotes medical intervention, a
philanthropic organization - Manuel Pinto Educational Fund which was founded
in memory of a founding member of the Rotary Club of Muyenga, this provides
education support to the less privileged. He is a board member at Hospice
Africa Uganda, Green Efforts Foundation an environmental and community
service organization and board member UHMG (Uganda Health Management
Group)

District Governor’s Mesage for August
My Family of Rotary:
It was with profound sadness that we lost our Rotary
International President Elect Sam Frobisher Owori.
Sam passed on unexpectedly of post-surgery
complications in a USA hospital. This was indeed a
painful blow and tragic loss for the family, Rotary
Fraternity and Friends. Thank you my family of Rotary
for the honor you gave to our beloved Sam F. Owori.
We shall all remember that Sam was the epitome of
Rotary and his exemplary service got him elected to
the highest office in Rotary, making him the second
African to hold this position. I was privy to some of
the great plans that he was preparing for his year of
service 2018-2019 but sadly he has gone before
executing them. However, while his sudden departure has had a paralyzing effect, we are thankful that
we shared some of his 40 years of Rotary service.
Good men must pass on but death cannot kill their
good names. The only way we can honor Sam is to
emulate the values and ideals that he held dearly.
Sam’s loss brought out so many people who commited themselves to join Rotary. It is our role to follow
them up and recruit them during this month of
membership. My thoughts and prayers are with
Norah, the Owori family, members of Rotary
Club of Kampala where Sam was a member as well as
all members of the Rotary fraternity in District D9211,
Africa and the World over. We will miss Sam
dearly. The first month of our green Rotary year is
done. Thank you for having made a difference in your
respective communities. In the last month I visited
over 20 clubs and also interacted with the Rotaractors
and Interactors. I made a decision to continue with
Club Visits at the time of Sam F. Owori's death to
honor him. Sam would have wanted us to continue
the good job he did in the 40 years of dedicated
service to the good causes of Rotary. One month into
our Rotary year and we are in August designated
for Membership Recruitment and Club Development.
As District Governor one of my roles is to encourage
clubs increase membership throughout our district. I
do not believe in growth for the sake of growth but as
a part of a strategic plan to do more in our communities and in our world. I am asked by Rotarians on how
we can find and keep members in our clubs. It seems
that the weekly meeting is becoming a hurdle to

want to emphasize is that we are living in the “now”
generation where we all want to leave our options
open and don’t want to commit to atiending a meeting every week. Though there is some truth to this,
most people just want to know there is value in the
way they spend their time. It is important that our
meetings are fun, informative and meaningful. This
is not just the responsibility of the Club President but
all Rotarians in the club. We need great programs and
fun events.I believe that we need to take away the
excuses not to join Rotary. One great example of this
is allowing small children to atend your meetings
weekly. Young parents may not be able to afford
child care so they can atend meetings. If you make it
so that childcare is available during the meeting or
give these kids something to do during that hour you
might see a big increase in the younger members.
Use Facebook and other social media to advertise
programs and special events. Not only do you remind
your members of the meeting but some of the folks
that normally would skip a meeting might see an
interesting program coming up and stop in. The
botom line is that we can make even more amazing
things happen with more members! We need to
constantly be asking our friends, neighbors, co-workers and perfect strangers to join with us in our
atempt to make the world a much better place.
So as you go through this month ask those you know
well or barely know if they would like to hang out
with you for an hour, leting them know that joining
us and our awesome organization will be the best
decision they will ever make! Recruit many members
as possible to have strong clubs in order to deliver
services to the community.
I promise to give you all the necessary help you need
- let us bring back our environment by planting trees
massively to embrace Mission Green.
Fellow Rotarians, we have to go to Toronto.
Let us support Norah’s call for all of us to be in Toronto to celebrate Sam’s life. So go forth, find great new
members and invite them to be a part of our organization.

Today we are extremely delighted to welcome our District
Governor, personally I feel honored and privileged to preside
over this fellowship.
Our country officials present, our fellow Rotarians and guests
I warmly welcome you to this fellowship whose chief guest
and guest of honor is District Governor Ken.
This year the RCBN boost of 22 years of service, being the
23rd president is an opportunity to hold and a rare chance to
lead such honorary Rotarians. The club still has the 21 of all
the past presidents still active.
The 22nd president is return to the club by December 2017 after
15 years in Kenya.
Dear D.G, this green fellowship is dedicated to you,
it is said whena man catches a cold even the wife.
Your love for the environment has not left D9211
the same please enjoy it.
The Rotarians before you are passionate about
humanitarian service and membership growth,
last year this club gave birth to RC Bweyogerere
Central, the year beforeto rotaract IUIU,this year is
going to be yet another exceptional one. We have so
far to present to you six well mentored Rotarians for
your induction. In humanitarian service this club has
taken on to prepare health camps e.g. in Kisoro
and Kiwenda which are beyond Kira where we
operate. We have monthly dental care, to
mention a few, we have good relations with
rotaractors and RCCs.
This club is keen about its visibility in the
community especially here where we sit, if you
asked about bed bugs in Bweyogerere, they’ll
tell you rotary has the solution, beyond our club
we are everywhere in every club and in every fellowship, even internationally, in the
rotary fraternity it’s a club to recon with.
The flowered Rotarians are the PHFs we have in
the club that is why they appear different before you as earlier presented, many more of
them are still promising to offer more.
Our Governor, we thank you for the privilege of having our members serve at country
level, PP Nkooka James, PP Kabanda Charles, PP Nsiyona Sam,
PP Muwanga Immaculate, PP Peter Kasango, Rtn Nuwagaba Micheal, Rtn Semakula
Cathy.
Our Governor we are committed to having this rotary year a success, we have embraced mission green, We have given our fruit trees and planted commercial trees and
also taught women to make energy saving stoves in their homes in Naluhonjohe.

1. Ten day rainfall forecast (21 -31 August 2017)

The rainfall forecast for 21st to 31st August 2017 indicates that there will be an increased chance for enhanced
rainfall conditions to prevail over northern, eastern, western and a few parts of central and Lake Victoria
basin. The rest of the country that includes southern cattle corridor districts of Rakai, Lwengo, Lyantonde and
parts of Kiruhura and Sembabule are expected to experience outbursts of some moderate showers during the
forecast period.
2. Highlights for 11th – 20th August 2017

Outbreaks of light showers occurred in most areas in South Western and Southern Cattle corridor .

Wet conditions prevailed in several areas of Mount Elgon Sub-region , Eastern, Northern, as well in some
parts of West Nile and Karamoja sub region.
3. The Rainfall Performance for 11th – 20th August 2017

South Western sub region and Southern Cattle
corridor received marginal rainfall in most areas
which slightly moderated the dry condition that had
prevailed for so long. By contrast, the highest
amount of rainfall received during period was from
Elgon sub region of 149.7mm and 137.3mm at
Bulengeni rainfall and Buginyanya Agromet station
respectively both in Bulambuli district followed by
125.4 mm at Gulu weather station in Gulu District
and 114.4 mm Serere Agromet station in Serere
distirict.

3. Temperature

Since mid June 2017, the lower areas of Kasese District have experienced hotter conditions than the rest of country
even during this period. The highest average maximum temperature recorded there was 31.90C. While the lowest of
the average maximum temperature of 23.30C was recorded at Buginyanya in Bulambuli District. Overall, the highest
of the daily maximum temperatures observed was 33.20C. The mean minimum temperatures for this period of
12.70C to 19.10C were recorded respectively at Kabale and Kiige weather stations in Kabale and Kamuli Districts
respectively. The lowest of daily minimum temperatures of 10.00C was observed at the former station. The details of
the characteristics of temperature extremes are reflected in figures 2 and 3 below.
