I

can’t believe it. It’s that time again. We’re in the holiday
season, Christmas and New Year’s Eve are upon us, and
I have socks and chocolate coming out of my ears. Of
course, all of the latter obviously means it’s time to set our
New Year’s resolutions. Or maybe not – they always seem to go
out of the window after the first week anyway…
Instead, how about starting a mini bucket list for 2018?
Nothing that’s going to be too far out of the realms of reality,
but a handful of things you’d like to do outdoors over the year that you will actually be able to tick off. That might be completing the Snowdon Horseshoe in
Wales, walking your first long distance footpath or climbing your first 4,000m
peak in the Alps. To help you out, we’ve created a list of 46 incredible adventures both close to home and further afield. It acts as ideal inspiration and is the
perfect starting point for your year of adventure (read it on page 60).
We’ve also got our usual dose of inspiration, with our UK adventures (page 45)
and travel features to the likes of Spain, Australia and Argentinean Patagonia.
If you are thinking about climbing your first 4,000m peak next year, you’ll be
pleased to hear that we’ve got a full write up of two mountains that are perfect
for the job: the Breithorn and Piramide Vincent (page 76).
Hopefully there’s plenty to keep you going through post-holiday blues of January and February, and don’t forget to write your 2018 bucket lists. Mine currently includes climbing Mont Blanc and walking the
Snowdonia Way, but we’d love to hear
about yours, so please do send it in via the
details below. Happy adventuring!
