POEMS.2017. Langford Quarpong

1. NIGHT WAVES
2. BLACK TRUTH

3. SINCE MY WORDS WOULD STAY
4. WAKE UP

5. TALK TO ME

NIGHT WAVES

When it is hard to talk I hope the little I write gets to you
Even at the red light, when these words start to massage my brains I have to jot them down
Someday I hope what I say sticks Together Souls
And Baby deep within ur heart you know to forgive me is easy
Not my wish to be the reason why ur smile becomes slow to formulate
It makes me lose me till ure in the mood to look beyond my repetitive deeds
I cannot change what I felt when we first connected and will never feel the same irrespective

BLACK TRUTH

Blacker than gold with an international glow
When I lose myself, my own paths lead me back so I must walk true
I do save a prayer for the set back, believing the spirits lead me right
The darker the flesh the deeper the roots, God must be darker than black
For that fact the sun shines golden, the rays for our eyes
People die trying to resurrect the Origin of African Unity
But like genetics it runs through the brain nerves of the next philosophist
The Unity we need to unscather our true identity as the chosen
Seeing visions and dreams, nurturing a spiritual being
And when all the prophesies do sum up
we will all believe the path back to the World of true Kings and Queens.

SINCE MY WORDS WOULD STAY

Just like the roars of the sea that never shuts and the clocks that tick Tock to mark generations
I hope these words forever stay and since my words would stay
It is all I got so I solemnly swear, what i whisper in your ears is part of me
Feeling like the Ultimate, surrounding my closet with scribbles
And Since my words would stay, I leave it for the keeping
Leading me through the invisible doors of the glossy world
seeing visions through underchannelled tunnels
And Since my words would stay you can be more inquisitive

WAKE UP

To wake up is the priority
Living and breathing through the sunshine and the winter
Coastal bread and wavy all seasons
Wake up, wake up to reality
The belly of the priest is filled up with the bread of communion
Wake up and see past the average
Wake up to the Apex, Rise up
For your time is up, so wake up

TALK TO ME
Talk to me, let it go deep down to my soul
Am no stranger to these talks, it makes me recognise myself through you
Heal me with your new talk for the old brought me pain
Talk to me as I listen, my attention all yours
A little chit chat, just talk to me
I left my pieces in you and yours in me
So strong it tuned my hearing senses

And at this very moment only your talks I desire
