Meeting Minutes – January 11, 2018
The meeting was opened with the Pledge of Allegiance to our country’s flag. Approximately 26 people were in attendance.
We had 1 guest, John. He drove down from Fort Pierce, hope to see him again next month. Frank gave the club an incentive. If you
bring in a guest, you will get a 50/50 ticket.
The board was short-staffed as Vice President Sue Chonoles was absent. Secretary Jan Smirnoff, who was sick with the flu, still
came in and set up the Chinese auction and then left to go home to bed.
Laurie Haire, treasurer reported there is $2977.03 in our treasury. She announced the club membership fees are due. She made
copies of a laminate article from April, Why We’re Called the Treasure Coast if anyone wanted one. Also stated she has club cards for
members to pass out to the public while out metal detecting. She showed a card that was received from the Ronald McDonald House
for the donation of the pull tabs, a very worthwhile cause.
President Frank Nash spoke on the Memorial Hunt we will be having in February. The board will decide on the date, so watch fo r an
email announcement. It will be a silver hunt. He announced he is leaving this weekend to go to a Mine Lab conference on their newest
detector in Arizona and will report on that next month. There is a good possibility that Tom Dankowski could be coming to the club
next month to speak, be sure to be there.
3 members collected their birthday dollar for the month of December and January.
The Chinese Auction was held during the break. Many books were bought and will be enjoyed by our club members along with some
funds added to our treasury.
Laurie Haire did the presentation of the awards. Ed Morin won Treasure Hunter of the Year, Tripp Cioci received the runner up. Frank
Nash got Detective of the Year, Paul Hamlin won Ambassador of Goodwill, Sue Chonoles won Tipper of Year, Cheryl Petenbrink wo n
Volunteer of the Year, and Jack Kazee got Editor of the Year. Congratulations to all, very well deserved.
A new hint and clue was requested for the hidden cache. Frank advised that it is gone, someone took it. We will have to get a new jar
and replant.
Best finds were done by Cheryl Petenbrink and Paul Hamlin.
The winner of the 50/50 drawing was Paul Hamlin for $25.00
The meeting was adjourned at 8:30.

Find This Capsule, Win a Prize—not!
There once was a capsule, filled with pull-tabs, and hidden by Frank Nash. He had given a few clues as to its whereabouts, so our
club could try to find it.. One day, he went to check on it, but alas, it had disappeared. Someone apparently found it, but i t wasn’t
one of our members. Another capsule will be put together and hidden in the near future.
