Learning
from a new
perspective
Figure Drawing | Fall 2017
Perspective drawing is something that I’m
continuously trying to improve at because
of the correlation it has towards understanding the elements of art. For this
drawing, I drew the human skull in profile
view. My overall goal for this drawing was
to illustrate the texture the skull presented.
To do this, I used charcoal and a kneaded
eraser to create the shading on the top of
the skull. Overall I felt this drawing solved
the problem of displaying the texture of
the skull and helped me learn more about
texture, depth and value.

Decorative
patterns
Graphic Design 1 | Fall 2017
For the final project of this class, we were proposed
with the task of creating a set of patterns, to print
and wrap with. Through early ideating, I concluded that my overall theme would consist of patterns
made of three shapes. My main problem with this,
was creating a unique set without looking too
predictable. To solve this, I used gradients to simulate different values of the three colors and scale of
different shapes with the goal of making a visually
engaging set. In the end I was satisfied with the
solution I had to each problem.

Graphic Design 1 | Fall 2017
This project prompted us to choose a
Twitter account and select six tweets to
demonstrate the six Gestalt Principles, I
chose celebrity Conan O’Brien. In order to
display his upbeat and comedic personality, I
chose bold typefaces, as well as bright colors
overall. The interior of the packaging consists
of a clover design, and a quote from Conan.
My thinking with this was to allow the viewer
to relate to Conan even before they read the
tweets, and to fully understand the possible
emotions he was communicating through
each tweet. Displayed are four tweets that I
thought fully define Conans personality.

Creating an
icon family

Graphic Design 1 | Spring 2017
This project gave us the problem of create a set of five icons that display our everyday
commute to class. Since I am a commuter, I had to figure out which parts of my commute
were most important, but my main problem was including my emotion through the icons.
I did this by including a question mark on the second icon showing that I didn’t know if
I had time to get coffee, and my fourth icon which showed me rushing to class. Overall I
feel the icons were cohesive through the use of the star, and similar design elements.

Redesigning
an interface
Graphic Design Methods | Spring 2017
This group project tasked us with the idea of
redesigning a music app interface to make it more
user friendly. Our group chose Google Play Music.
My problem for the project was to further connect
the artist and fan. To solve this, I incorporated Google owned Youtube to display videos related to the
artist, and created an icon on the profile page to get
there. My thinking was that using Google’s resource
in YouTube, it easily sets it apart from other music
apps. Another notable feature incorporated by my
group included a travel mode for discovering new
artists using Google Maps.

Reimagining
SafeRide on
campus

Graphic Design Methods | Spring 2017
For this project I wanted to reinvent the way UNC Charlotte students recognize campus
transportation. I wanted the symbol to be welcoming to those who have a disability and
use the SafeRide system. My initial thoughts were that I had to provoke positive emotions and represent equality through the symbol. To do this, I decided to use the windows
to show equality and a driver waving, provoking the viewer to associate the symbol with
ease of access. In the end I was satisfied with how to symbol was rendered on signs, as
well as current UNC Charlotte vehicles.

Design for
a field of
study

Graphic Design 2 | Spring 2018
Improving my overall research process is something I really took away from this
project. I was prompted with creating a set of icons to display what Carcinology
was all about. I was forced with the problem of what animals to include, and who
would best represent the characistics of this group. I decided on the recognizable crabs and lobsters, but dove deeper into specific types of lobster such as
the Flipper Lobster. I also wanted to include some not so known terrestrial based
crustaseans, such as the Pill Bug.With futher revisons after final critique, I felt
that the Crustasean family was properly repesented through the icon set.
