Andrew will look at what previous case law both in Australia and overseas can tell us about the legal status
of workers in the burgeoning “gig economy” – and in particular what entitlements or protections they might
be able to claim. He will also examine the potential for the new labour hire licensing regimes about to
commence in Queensland and South Australia, and proposed in Victoria, to apply to work arranged through
digital platforms.
