Re: FY 2018 Mental Health Awareness Grants FOA SM-18-009 CFDA 93.243
To whom it may concern:
This letter of commitment is to offer our support for the SAMHSA grant funding application
from The Right Place Inc. (Housing and Support), Anniston, Alabama, Calhoun County. We are
pleased to support this Mental Health Awareness training initiative (Project MHAT), to build
community capacity to improve mental health access, referral, treatment and prevention in rural
Calhoun, Etowah, Cherokee and DeKalb counties. We feel strongly that community and agency
mental health awareness activities will improve mental health outcomes in our underserved area
with limited resources.

If funded, we would be amenable to collaborative activities, training, and events, and will
participate in information and resource sharing, as well as making mental health related referrals.
The Right Place has a six-year history of service and expertise related to the provision of
permanent housing services for low income persons, especially those with special needs such as
veterans, the chronically homeless, persons with substance use disorders, and mental illness. The
Right Place staff have a combined 74 years of non-profit service, and expertise in the delivery of
evidence-based interventions, clinical services, prevention education, disease screening, and
federal grants management.
As a community partner, our agency will facilitate referrals made through mental health
awareness activities of the project and provide input related to project performance measurement
and quality assurance.
We whole heartedly request your favorable review of The Right Place application and look
forward to a successful partnership to fill an unmet need in our community. With 1 in 5 adults in
the U.S. experiencing mental illness each year, this awareness project is a critical need in our
rural, underserved region. Please feel free to contact us if additional information is needed
