If you want to be a real estate agent in Texas,​ you need to meet Texas’ criteria for real estate agents.
One requirement is that you pass the​ ​Texas real estate license exam​ to become certified to broker
real estate deals.
Once you pass the license exam and meet the other requirements, you can work as a real estate
agent in Texas. Keep in mind that Texas does not have reciprocal agreements with any other state.
That means that if you become a licensed real estate agent in Texas, you must also be licensed in
any other state where you wish to work.
What’s Required for Me to Become a Real Estate Agent in Texas?
To become a licensed real estate agent in Texas, you must meet the following criteria:

Be a United States citizen or a lawfully admitted alien;
Be a legal resident of Texas;
Be at least 18 years old;
Complete the following coursework:
○ 60 classroom hours of the Principles of Real Estate course;
○ 30 classroom hours of the Law of Contracts course;
○ 30 classroom hours of the Law of Agency course; and
○ An additional 60 classroom hours’ worth of core classes or related classes as
deemed acceptable by the​ ​Texas Real Estate Commission​.
Pass the real estate license exam;
Complete fingerprinting; and

A letter from the Commission attesting to your successful completion of all educational
