Foreign Alphabet Project
Directions: You will be researching a country’s sign language, Deaf
education system, Deaf culture and community. For this project you’ll
need to do three things. This project is due next class!
1. Practice, then sign your country’s manual alphabet for Mrs. Parker
2. Research your country’s Deaf education system, Deaf culture, and
community. Write a 150-word paragraph telling me about how the
Deaf live in your specific country. How many schools for the Deaf
are there? Is their sign language similar or different to ASL? How
many Deaf are there? Is there an organization set up to help the
Deaf? Are there laws protecting the rights of the Deaf?
3. Create a poster with the manual alphabet, pictures of the country,
flag, pictures of the Deaf community and sign language (if you can
find some), and 5 Deaf-related facts.
You will be graded on the following:
