CONTRACT

THIS AGREEMENT is made on Tuesday 13th March 2018, between:
Α. The buyer, The Institute for Statecraft, 2 Temple Place, London WC2R 3BD, United Kingdom,
legally represented by Mr Chris Donnelly, Director, and
Β. The service provider, the University of Macedonia Research Institute of Applied Social and
Economic Studies – Public Opinion Research Unit (PORU), VAT Number EL090225467 and Tax
Office D’ Thessaloniki, legally represented by its Deputy Director Professor Eftichios Sartzetakis,
collectively referred to as the "Parties".

The parties hereby agree on the following:
1.1.

The buyer asks and the service provider accepts to run the project “The first phase of the
observatory of the media and public opinion attitudes on foreign affairs”, hereafter as
“the project”. This project runs under the scientific coordination of Professor Nikos
Marantzidis.

1.2.

PORU will launch an observatory that monitors specific media in order to explore factors
that could influence public opinion’s attitudes or/and boost specific beliefs. This
observatory will provide reports identifying the way that media cover issues of specific
interest in relation to foreign affairs and Greece’s position into the international
environment. For the purpose of the project, a brief report providing findings’ and
insights will be delivered.

1.3.

Alongside, it will conduct a survey poll that identifies attitudes and perceptions of the
Greek population regarding international actors, foreign affairs and the position of
Greece into the international environment. More specifically, PORU would conduct a
nationwide CATI survey poll on a sample of 500 respondents.

1.4.

The deliverable of the survey is the project’s report, that include findings, diagrams and
essential documentation to elaborate project’s findings. Project’s report will be delivered
within a period of four months. This four months period consists the reporting period
(RP). During the first three months of the reporting period the survey poll will be fielded
and the observatory will monitor the media, while in the last month project’s report will
be produced.

1.5.

The total overall cost of the survey is six thousand euro (6,000.00 €) inclusive of VAT. The
parties could decide whether to split or merge these reporting periods.

1.6.

The above amount –either on RP basis, or in total- would be paid via Bank Transfer
(Piraeus Bank, IBAN: GR96 0172 2020 0052 0200 2140 012, SWIFT BIC PIRBGRAA) after
PORU directs the issue of the respective invoice.

1.7.

Confidentiality. Neither Party will use, copy, adapt, alter or part with possession of any
information of the other which is disclosed or otherwise comes into its possession under
or in relation to this Agreement and which is of a confidential nature. This obligation will
not apply to information which the recipient can prove was in its possession at the date it
was received or obtained or which the recipient obtains from some other person with
good legal title to it or which is in or comes into the public domain otherwise than
through the default or negligence of the recipient or which is independently developed
by or for the recipient.

1.8.

The Parties acknowledge and agree that the Services performed by the Service Provider,
its employees, agents or sub-contractors shall be as an independent contractor and that
nothing in this Agreement shall be deemed to constitute a partnership, joint venture,
agency relationship or otherwise between the parties.

1.9.

The failure of either party to enforce its rights under this Agreement at any time for any
period shall not be construed as a waiver of such rights. If any part, term or provision of
this Agreement is held to be illegal or unenforceable neither the validity or enforceability
of the remainder of this Agreement shall be affected. Neither Party shall assign or
transfer all or any part of its rights under this Agreement without the consent of the
other Party. This Agreement may not be amended for any other reason without the prior
written agreement of both Parties.
