We need you!
At the Katie Brown Educational Program (KBEP), our aim is to promote healthy relationships by
teaching relationship violence prevention. We’ve been doing this since 2001 with the financial
support of donors like you.
As the 2018-2019 school year begins, we look to more strategic ways to promote healthy
relationships in southeastern Massachusetts and Rhode Island. We are adding a new position
at KBEP to better structure and streamline how we service our schools. Both educators and
support staff are working in the field more than ever to aid in spreading awareness and need for
this work. Our educators are more enthusiastic than ever- looking forward to seeing our first
cohort of fourth graders build upon their knowledge, using tools that help us better communicate
with our Hispanic students, and expanding our teaching area to include New Bedford, MA!
To continue offering our students top-notch relationship violence prevention we need your help.
Sumaiyea, a recent Durfee High School graduate and former KBEP participant put it best,
“Being a part of the program was an amazing experience. I’ve loved being able to learn about
healthy relationships and I’ve been able to share the information I’ve learned with my friends
who aren’t Durfee students.”
Simply put- KBEP changes the lives of its students in a meaningful and positive way. Our
program teaches young people how to navigate difficult feelings such as anger, jealousy, and
rejection in a way that allows each participant to be a more resilient person right now and in the
future. We prevent the family-wide heartache of watching a loved one suffer through an abusive
relationship.
Your contribution allows us to keep our program relevant, provide our curriculum to schools and
organizations at little cost, and expand our work into other communities. Let’s work together and
