Meeting was brought to order at 7:05 by President Frank Nash who led the group in the Pledge of Allegiance. Frank quickly introduced
our featured speaker, Lt. Dan Barnicle, from Palm Beach County Ocean Rescue.
There were 24 in attendance, with two visitors and one new member.
Refreshments was a pot luck. Thanks to all who participated.
Vice President Sue Chonoles delivered the club shirts, she also shared a log she designed for documenting hunts.
Treasurer Laurie Haire delivered the Treasurer report, and announced the silver raffle. She also announced that a number of books
were for sale on the table near the Best Finds.
Laurie asked if anyone would be interested in going on a metal detecting cruise to the Bahamas. She is checking on a cruise that
leaves from the Port of Palm Beach. The cruise on the Paradise Celebration to Freeport would be about $200 per person. The cruise
could possibly in September. More details will be shared at later meetings.

From the President's desk:
First a BIG thank you to all of the members who brought various and delicious items to our Pot Luck event. It was a good precursor
to the December party. For the new members, the club's Christmas Party has a huge selection and amounts of great food.
While we are speaking of eating...the July meeting will be the yearly ice cream social. Save room for the sundaes, floats and other
treats. Yummy for our tummies.
Last month we had several guests, due to member's invitations and the Internet. I encourage you to reach out to friends and
neighbors who might enjoy our meetings and hunts.
Speaking in regards to hunts, Tripp will bring us up to date about the school yard's second visit.
Happy Fourth of July. July 5th will be a good time to detect the grounds where the crowds were on the night of July 4th. Please
share your stories of the 5th at the meeting. We will have a separate prize for the best find on July 5th !!
Thanks to all of you for making our club meetings each month go so well. With special thanks to Jack for the Club's newsletter and
photos. Tripp for the best finds table setup and tally. Sue for the Tips of the month. Laurie for the bookkeeping and trips to the bank
and stores looking for prizes and putting together raffles and the monthly 50/50 and putting up with me. LOL. Everyone who sets up
the chairs and tables and puts them all away, along with taking out the trash each month. Very much appreciated.
Last month's guest speaker Dan Barnicle of Ocean Rescue did a fabulous presentation. This month's speaker is the Club's own Dave
Chonoles about magnet detecting. Might attract you to a new detecting method.
Looking forward to seeing you at the next meeting on July 11th 2019.

June Featured Speaker
Thanks to our June, 2019 speaker, Lt. Dan Barnicle from Palm Beach Ocean Rescue. His
presentation was about the vital role the members of Ocean Rescue play in keeping us safe at the
beach. He spoke about rip currents, different types of rescues, what the warning flags mean, and
how to recognize hazards when at the beach.
Thank you Dan, and Palm Beach Ocean Rescue for all you do!

Club Hunts
Club hunts are important for promoting comradery, building friendships, and exposing the club to the general public. Hunts
are as important as club meetings, so sign up and attend as many as you can.
Hunts are a great way to get detecting time around others. There are always opportunities to help others learn their
machine, offer tips on how to find treasure, or get advice from other members. Here are some ways you can help make our
hunts successful.
• If you are able, help set up tables, food, drinks, etc. before the hunt. Or stick around for a few minutes after to help put
the hunt location back like we found it.
• Send emails reminding the members about upcoming hunts, encouraging them to attend.
• Help new club members during the hunt.
• Offer rides to members who aren’t as mobile.
• Donate some items for the hunt. They could be items to be used as prizes, or junk jewelry or other items that can be
used in a planted hunt.
• Don’t be ‘that guy’ who shows up before the hunt and cleans the place out. Club hunts are meant to be fun for everyone.
There may be prizes involved, but our budget doesn’t allow us to give out new cars as prizes. Don’t let your drive to
compete ruin the hunt for your fellow members.
• Don’t overlook trash as you’re detecting. Picking up trash is a bonus for the club’s image. If you’re hunting on a
property that requires permission we want the owner to be impressed with how we treat their property. Showing them
a bucket of trash that was just removed by the club will show them that we are responsible and can be trusted to be on
their property. It’s a great way to be invited back.
• Whether you are digging on the beach, or in a yard, fill your holes. Leaving a property looking like a gopher colony
makes us all look bad.
• Respect any off-limit areas. Depending on the layout of the hunt site, there may be areas designated as off-limits by the
club, the property owner, or ordinance. These must be respected.
Above all, have fun. Our club has a lot of interesting people, and hunts are a great way to get to know our members.
