General Information
COURSE DESCRIPTION

CONTINUING EDUCATION CREDIT

The symposium will have expert review of the latest procedures,
technology and medical treatments for GI cancer patients. National
guidelines will be reviewed. Additionally, there will be case-based
discussions incorporating multi-disciplinary care approaches, novel,
recently FDA-approved drugs, and clinical trial eligibility.

The Emory University School of Medicine designates this live activity
for a maximum of 4.5 AMA PRA Category 1 CreditsTM. Physicians
should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their
participation in the activity.

TARGET AUDIENCE

Successful completion of this CME activity, which includes
participation in the evaluation component, enables the participant
to earn up to 4.5 MOC points in the American Board of Internal
Medicine’s (ABIM) Maintenance of Certification (MOC) program.
It is the CME activity provider’s responsibility to submit participant
completion information to ACCE for the purpose of granting ABIM
MOC credit.

This symposium is intended for physicians, nurse practitioners,
physician assistants, pharmacists and oncology nurses. Trainees, at
all levels, are highly encouraged to attend.

The Emory University School of Medicine is accredited by the
ACCME to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

Participants will be able to recognize the different treatment
modalities available for their patients with GI cancers and formulate
a tailored treatment plan.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES
Upon completion of this education activity, learners should be
able to:
n

Recognize the multi-disciplinary approach (interventional
radiology, surgery, radiation oncology, and medical oncology)
to treating GI cancers;

n

Identify and use the new oncologic drugs for GI cancers and
know the ongoing clinical trials;

n

Incorporate multi-disciplinary approach towards their patient
care and offer an increased number of treatment options for
the patients.

SYMPOSIUM LOCATION AND LODGING
The conference will be held in the Emory University Health Sciences
Research Building Auditorium (1760 Haygood Drive NE, Atlanta,
GA 30322). Limited complimentary parking available.

Emory Nursing Professional Development Center (ENPDC)
is accredited as a provider of continuing nursing education by
the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on
Accreditation.
Continuing Nursing Education (CNE) contact hours are awarded
by ENPDC. Up to 4.5 CNE contact hours and up to 0.83
pharmacotherapeutic contact hours are awarded commensurate
with participation and completion of the evaluation. No conflict
of interest has been identified for anyone with the ability to control
content of this activity.

REGISTRATION
The registration fee includes course material, continental breakfast,
break and lunch. Minimum and maximum enrollments have been
established. A refund of your registration fee will be made if written
cancellation is received no later than August 30, 2019. The liability
of Emory University is limited to the registration fee. Emory will not
be responsible for any losses incurred by registrants, including but
not limited to airfare cancellation or hotel deposits.
