Oakland RCV Repeal Charter Amendment 100%

2012 Dear Colleagues, I submit to you for your consideration the attached resolution which if approved by the Council, would put on the November ballot a measure to allow voters to decide whether to continue the use of the current Rank Choice Voting (RCV) system or return to the former two election voting system.

NC BOE LETTER 11-20-16 final 94%

Third, if the state BOE takes the unprecedented and extreme step of usurping ballot counting authority from the counties, this will have a CHILLING effect, and undermine public confidence in election results, causing widespread public outcry that your Board is seeking to “rig” the North Carolina elections on a pro-GOP partisan basis, since the majority of your members are currently Republican.

Impact of IRV on Racial Groups in SF 94%

As adopted in San Francisco, voters are only given the option to rank-order as many as three preferred candidates, and recording fewer than three candidate preferences will not invalidate a voter’s ballot.

IRV is flawed 92%

The Star Tribune Editorial Board supports RCV. In the past three months, it has published four commentaries on the voting method, including mine. The other three were from RCV proponents. Two of them made inaccurate claims about majority outcomes. The other stated that every ballot was counted and that voter intent was discerned. That is correct.
