piu` epico che lirico e con orchestra e, soprattutto, coro di eccessive dimensioni, con una bacchetta pesante, non e` da annoverarsi tra i successi migliori del Maestro italo-inglese A Bologna l’allestimento scenico (essenziale, marino, anzi salmastro), i costumi dal taglio anni Cinquanta e dai colori sfumati e l’ottima recitazione (difficile credere che Cesare Lievi sia la stessa persona che ha firmato il deludente Don Carlo visto ed ascoltato questa stagione a Parma ed a Genova) rendono commovente la tragedia della solitudine centrale a Peter Grimes:
