VARIETY​ ​PERFORMANCE ​ ​Hybrid​ ​Performance​ ​in​ ​High​ ​pH​ ​Soil Soybeans 7/25/17 9/12/17 Situation Growers​ ​can​ ​use​ ​their​ ​TerrAvion​ ​imagery​ ​to​ ​identify​ ​soil​ ​zones​ ​and​ ​to​ ​monitory​ ​variety​ ​performance​ ​in different​ ​soil​ ​types.​ ​In​ ​this​ ​example,​ ​the​ ​grower​ ​used​ ​imagery​ ​to​ ​determine​ ​whether​ ​a​ ​leading​ ​variety (planted​ ​above​ ​the​ ​white​ ​line)​ ​performed​ ​better​ ​in​ ​zones​ ​of​ ​high​ ​pH​ ​soil.​ ​The​ ​July​ ​25​ ​imagery​ ​shows that​ ​the​ ​top​ ​hybrid​ ​seems​ ​to​ ​be​ ​growing​ ​more​ ​vigorously​ ​in​ ​the​ ​high​ ​pH​ ​soil.​ ​The​ ​September​ ​12​ ​imagery shows​ ​that​ ​ ​both​ ​hybrids​ ​seem​ ​to​ ​be​ ​growing​ ​evenly​ ​throughout​ ​most​ ​of​ ​the​ ​field​ ​but​ ​the​ ​hybrid​ ​in​ ​the top​ ​of​ ​the​ ​field​ ​is​ ​clearly​ ​outperforming​ ​in​ ​the​ ​high​ ​pH​ ​soil.

Irrigation​ ​and​ ​Drainage Inefficient​ ​Flood​ ​Irrigation Alfalfa Poor​ ​Irrigation​ ​Flow​ ​Identified​ ​8/3/17 Results​ ​of​ ​Inefficient​ ​Irrigation​ ​Flow​ ​9/8/17 NDVI​ ​Scale Thermal​ ​Scale Situation Growers​ ​can​ ​use​ ​their​ ​TerrAvion​ ​thermal​ ​and​ ​NDVI​ ​imagery​ ​to​ ​identify​ ​irrigation​ ​system​ ​failures​ ​in​ ​their fields.​ ​In​ ​this​ ​example,​ ​inefficient​ ​flood​ ​irrigation​ ​flow​ ​left​ ​the​ ​south​ ​part​ ​of​ ​this​ ​field​ ​water​ ​stressed.​ ​The imagery​ ​reveals​ ​the​ ​problem​ ​on​ ​August​ ​3,​ ​early​ ​enough​ ​to​ ​make​ ​an​ ​effective​ ​correction.​ ​The​ ​grower, however,​ ​missed​ ​the​ ​signs​ ​and​ ​the​ ​inefficient​ ​irrigation​ ​flow​ ​compromised​ ​yield​ ​in​ ​the​ ​10-acre​ ​water stressed​ ​area​ ​as​ ​can​ ​be​ ​seen​ ​in​ ​the​ ​September​ ​8th​ ​imagery.
