Meeting Point 80’s...
Swedish 924 scene grows

A new club member in Sweden attended a
show for 80’s cars, bringing along his two
NA’s and Turbo track car with some help
from Felix to drive them over! There was a
great selection of 924’s in attendance.

there’s now a small faction in Cardiff with

Event Spotlight...
Pete / nwns reports

On a sunny Friday in September, four
intrepid NW Posse members dropped five
lovely (ok three lovely and two slightly less
so) 924s off at Event City in Manchester. The
setup was pretty simple, five cars in a petal
spread and a couple of 924 Owners Club
flags, but against the ‘star curtain’ backdrop
of Hall 4 and the blacked out Panther
Owners Club wall it looked very effective.
Saturday was a quiet but friendly day
with lots of positive interest in our cars,
Sunday was quite a bit busier but still no

‘Van Engine’ style negativity. Ian, Rich,
Dan, Mark, Chris, Kozzy, Jay & of course me
were all manning the stand on Sunday.
Kozzy accosted every passer-by and
wouldn’t let them leave until they knew
everything about the cars and the club. Jay
was slightly more subtle in his ‘muggings’
but was letting people sit in his car and
showing the friendly side of our club.
One stand visitor happened to mention
racing 924s in 1977 and how he and two
colleagues got 179mph out of three turbos
by slingshotting them round the banking

at Brooklands....I raised an eyebrow until it
turned out to be Barrie ‘Whizzo’ Williams!
Kozzy was very excited....
For a first attempt the Event City Classic
Car Show was a real winner with Group B
rally cars (amongst some slightly less fast
machinery) haring around a ‘track’ in the car
park and a large number of lovely cars and
stands. I’d like to thank Mark for organising
it and I hope we can do it even better next
year.

The main thing we kept on hearing for
the entire weekend was that people
had no idea that there was a dedicated
club so we still have plenty to do on that
score!
