BAND BIO
The Coyote Bandits started at La Sierra University in Riverside, California in 2010. Their
unique blend of Americana mixes folk, indie, gospel, blues, and bluegrass in search of what it
means to be people imagining a better world.
Christian Liang and Sterling Spence were introduced to each other on the way to lunch. It
took less than 500 ft. for them to discover their mutual love of roots music and plan to meet that
night to play. Within the week they were playing their own songs at open mics in downtown
Riverside along with Jaylene Chung, an accomplished concert violinist. They continued to play
anywhere that would have them including Coffee Depot in Riverside, Tuesday Tunes at La
Sierra University, The Venue in San Bernardino, a GAP promotional tour, and various churches.
Along with Scott Wilson, their current lead guitarist, and a local drummer and bassist
they began to write constantly, mixing stories of old western gunmen and salty sailors with
familiar hymns and themes of growing up in search for God, integrity, and kind women.
Their first album Riverside Revival was recorded at Pancakes House Records in Long
Beach, California in 2011 and released in the spring of 2012. Since then they have continued to
play throughout Southern California taking part in various benefit concert and festivals. They
raised money to send aide to Sendai, Japan after the Tsunami and worked with REVO La Sierra
to benefit the work of International Justice Mission who combat human trafficking. They took
part in the Almond Festival a bluegrass festival in Paso Robles. Their music is available on
iTunes and Spotify and has been played on the Cal State San Bernardino radio station Coyote
Radio.
The current lineup includes Christian Liang and Sterling Spence singing lead vocals and
playing guitar/banjo/mandolin, Jaylene Chung on keyboards/fiddle/mandolin, Scott Wilson on a
mean blues guitar, Jason Wuestefeld on bass guitar, and Doug Stowers on percussion. They are
planning to release a religious themed album of reimagined hymns in the summer of 2013 and an
E.P. of new music to be released simultaneously. Currently they are working with La Sierra
University to put together a West Coast Tour during the summer of 2013 to benefit the work of
the non-profit Canvasback Missions Inc. which brings medical care to the islands of Micronesia.
