Although there are many things you can do that will help you become successful, like focus,
training and mindset, one of the most important keys, and the secret key, is action. Without acting
on your goals and beliefs, your chances of success are non existent.
Once you have determined your goals and created the right mindset, your next step is to create a
plan of action. A plan of action tells you where you are going and outlines the steps to get you
there.
If you want to make sure you succeed in life, and then succeed in your goals, here are the steps
you need to take:
1. Start with your goals. Do you have too many? Create one goal in each major area of your life.
The areas you want to create goals in are health, wealth, and relationships. The goals you create
can be as big or as small as you want them to be. The point is to constantly seek improvement in
these areas. Remember, the most important relationship you have is with yourself. If you don't
develop the relationship with yourself and the self esteem that comes with it, it's almost
impossible to grow in these areas. In other words, get in touch with yourself.
2. Have only one goal for each area of your life. That's three goals. This is where you want to
focus and then take action.
3. Write an action plan for each goal. What do you need to know here to accomplish each one of
your goals? Find out what you need to know and then learn it, but don't take too much time. As
Michael Masterson says, "Ready, Fire, Aim." You will never know everything you need to know in
order to take action. It's best to know enough.
Once you have enough knowledge here to get started, then go for it. Write out the steps to help
you complete your goal. If you're not sure what they are, then try backward planning. Start with
the end goal in mind and then write out the steps until you are where you need to start. Most
importantly, stay flexible.
4. Periodically assess where you are. This means looking at your progress. Are you doing
something that isn't working? If not, then what do you need to change? Can this action be
eliminated? Focus on what works and stop doing what doesn't.
When you have completed each goal, then create new ones. Goals are what makes life
interesting and exciting. If you have a goal that doesn't seem that scary, then maybe you need to
consider creating more challenging goals. Remember, don't create more than one goal in each
area. Give each one a different deadline as in short, medium and long term goals. This allows you
to create progress towards each goal each day. You may arrive at each goal at a different time,
but this is OK. The point is to continue to take action until your goal becomes a reality.
