Home Page
Tap an app to open it.

Press the Home button to return to the Home screen. Swipe left or right to see other screens.

Touch Controls
iPhones have a number of touch controls, from a basic tap of a finger to multi touch controls. This will
be a guide over a few of the most commonly used controls.

2 Finger Pinch
Stretch a photo, webpage, or map for a close-up—then pinch to zoom back out. In Photos, keep
pinching to see the collection or album the photo’s in.

Swipe Left
Swipe from the left edge towards the right in Mail, Notes, Settings, Messages etc. to go back one
screen. This is only in a small number of apps to avoid conflict

Swipe Left and Right
In Safari, swipe from the left edge or the right edge to go back and forward pages respectively

Long Tap

Tap on a picture, file or text and hold to bring up a quick menu, this will often include functions such
as Copy, Paste, Select, Select All, Define etc.
If this function is used when composing a new email, Insert Photo or Video will be present, this will
allow the user to attach a file from the Photos App.

Multitasking
iPhone lets you run many apps at the same time. To view the apps that are currently running on your
device, double tap the Home Button from anywhere.

Double click the home button to access the multi-task screen.
Close an app - If an app isn’t working properly, you can force it to quit. Drag the app up from the
multitasking display. Then try opening the app again. Closing apps can also help to maximise battery
life.

Customize iPhone
Arrange apps. Touch and hold any app on the Home screen until it jiggles, then drag apps around.
Drag an app to the edge of the screen to move it to a different Home screen, or to the Dock at the
bottom of the screen. Press the Home button to save your arrangement.

Create a new Home screen. While arranging apps, drag an app to the right edge of the last Home
screen. The dots above the Dock show how many Home screens you have, and which one you’re
viewing.
Start over. Go to Settings > General > Reset, then tap Reset Home Screen Layout to return the Home
screen and apps to their original layout. Folders are removed and the original wallpaper is restored.

Organise with folders

Create a folder. While arranging apps, drag one app onto another. Tap the name of the folder to
rename it. Drag apps to add or remove them. Press the Home button when you finish.
You can have multiple pages of apps in a folder.

Change the wallpaper
Wallpaper settings let you set an image or photo as wallpaper for the Lock screen or Home screen.

Change the wallpaper. Go to Settings > Brightness & Wallpaper.

Search
Many apps include a search field where you can type to find
something that the app knows about With Spotlight Search,
you can search all the apps at once.
Search iPhone. Drag down the middle of any Home screen to
reveal the search field. Results occur as you type; to hide the
keyboard and see more results on the screen, tap Search. Tap
an item in the list to open it.

Control Centre
Control Centre gives you instant access to the camera, flashlight, audio playback controls, and many
other handy features. You can adjust the brightness, lock the screen in portrait orientation, turn
wireless services on or off, and turn on AirDrop to exchange photos and other items with nearby.

Open Control Centre. Swipe up from the bottom edge of any screen (even the Lock screen).
Open the currently playing audio app. Tap the song title.
Close Control Centre. Swipe down, tap the top of the screen, or press the Home button.
Turn off access to Control Centre in apps or on the Lock screen. Go to Settings > Control Centre.

Notification Centre
When you swipe down from the top of any screen – this will display the notification centre.

In the notification centre, you can see summaries of your day, including emails, calendars, weather,
location and reminders along with a brief summary of your day tomorrow. There is also a list view of
everything you’ve missed in the last 24 hours – emails, calendar events, phone calls, messages etc.
This can be navigated to by pressing “Missed” on the top bar.

Features

Phone & Contacts
Buttons at the bottom of the Phone app give you quick access to your favourites, recent calls, your
contacts, and a numeric keypad for dialling manually.
Use Contacts to call someone > Tap Contacts, choose a contact, then tap a phone number.
Find a contact from the Global Address Book >Tap Contacts, then choose a groups, select Global
Address List, search the list for contact.
Return a recent call > Tap Recents, then tap a name or number in the list.
Dial a number > Tap Keypad, enter the number, then tap Call.
Add a contact’s number to your favourites list > Tap Contacts and choose a contact. Then tap “Add to
Favourites” and choose the number you want to add.
When you’re on a call, the screen shows call options.

Mute your line > Tap Mute. You can still hear the caller, but the caller can’t hear you.
Use the keypad to enter information > Tap Keypad.
Use the speakerphone or a Bluetooth device > Tap Speaker. The Button is labelled Audio Source when
a Bluetooth device is available, which lets you select the Bluetooth device, iPhone,or Speaker Phone.
See contact information > Tap Contacts.
Put a call on hold > Tap Hold. Neither party can hear the other.
Make another call > Tap Add Call.
Use other applications during a call > Press the Home button, then tap an application icon.
End a call > Tap End Call. If you’re using the iPhone headset, you can press the centre button instead.

Calendar
Calendar lets you view your Buro Happold calendar. Any changes you make to the Calendar will be
replicated to the server. You can view your events in a continuous list, by day, or by month, and
search events by title, invitee, or location.
View a different calendar > Tap Calendars, then select a calendar. Tap All Calendars to view combined
events from all calendars.
Switch views > Tap List, Day, or Month.
List view : All your appointments and events appear in a scrollable list
Day view: Scroll up or down to see the events in a day.
Month view: Tap a day to see its events.

You can also enter and edit calendar events directly on iPhone.
Add an event > Tap + and enter event information, then tap Done.
You can enter any of the following:
 •Title
 •Location
 •Starting and ending times (or turn on All-day if it’s an all-day event)
 •Repeat times—none, or every day, week, two weeks, month, or year
 •Alert time—from five minutes to two days before the event
