LPWA SEC Meeting Minutes
Call to Order: 10:00 AM by Chairman Pickens

Philosophy of Funds Distribution
Introduced Libertarian Leadership Magazine. First edition complete. LPWA newsletter will be
replaced with a state specific version of the LLM. Concurrence from Secretary.
Recommendation by SEC to allow print-on-demand or subscription service for those willing to
Media Interviews pending Primary Election Results
Request for content volunteers for website. Aggregate information. Chris Strong delegated Tech
Chair duties from Secretary Nielson to coordinate website efforts.
Vice Chair Report:
Recommended use of meetup.com
Pending donation calls for LPWA

Late Convention Notes, pending input from fmr. Secretary Holden. Expecting July 31st.
Rebranding of the LPWA colors to replace blue with purple and retain gold/yellow
o LP is ripe for a rebrand, no other organizations have significant traction
o Recommended by Addis to reach out to other state organizations to determine what is
or is not working for their brand recognition

Recommended use of canva.com, tool used for magazine
Requested regional reports be emailed in advance of the meeting for minutes inclusion
$12180 on hand. $10,700 in savings
Requirement identified to maintain $800 per convention for trust monies donated
Cannot distribute funds from Campaign Support Acct without 10 individual donors of at least
o Several donations were provided to Treasurer to be reported at the next SEC
LPWA currently uses Wells Fargo. Recommended search for local bank or credit union.
6 month operating fund:
o $3280 needed on hand for 6 months of operating costs
o Cancelling storage unit ($258/mo)
o Moving data to quickbooks from Excel, accrual based data entry
o Cancelling Newsletter – moving digital with pay-to-print option
o Recommended affiliate product sales
Scott / Strong to lead fact finding,
M/S to form Business Dev Committee, ayes have it
o Switch from Nationbuilder to Wordpress
o There is $8900 on hand to support 7 regions
o M/S by Nielson to fund $1000 per region, which will be owed a report on usage and
success/failure at next SEC meeting. Ayes have it unanimously.
o Non-organized regions will have monies held in trust.
Discussion of large party donors. Recommended private donations only, refuse corporate funds
Region 1 Report:
Focus on Whatcom. No Regional discussion
Planning upcoming Fairs & Festivals
Open Carry Picnics, teaming with Nick Kunkel campaign

Jason Delwraa wants to tie back in to the LPWA
Region 2 Report:
Michael Scott Proxy for Eli Olsen
Attended Candidate Training event
Exploring Fair booths and community activity in region
Regional Director is looking at tying in all unique areas of region to activate involvement
Region 3 Report:
Branding effort underway for region 3. Using ‘logonerds.com’

9/20 Icecream social event
Aug 15-17 is Seattle Hempfest. Looking for volunteers. Raised $1000 for Hempfest
M/S by Pickens to research filing a lawsuit against State Liquor Control Board over Marijuana golive failures. Ayes have it.
R3 will buy a button maker. M/S from Nielson to allocate $450 from State Funds to buy button
maker. R3 will be responsible for supplies. Aye: 8, Nay: 1.
Potential to sponsor a hole at a charity golf event
Region 4 Report:
Raised $100 and spent it on Oly Hemp Fest
Logged 88 hours of volunteer work
Focus on growing officers beyond Director and Vice
Since region hosts Olympia, recommended Legislative Affairs Officer
Using Piggyback efforts with other organizations to stretch visibility
Creating Public Affairs Officer position
Community Outreach: Center for Self Governance and Campus Outreach developed
Focus on PR campaign by using volunteer efforts
o ‘Reach/Teach/Educate/Inspire’ is regional motto
Working with Oathkeepers to develop/host a candidate forum
Region 5 Report:
Held only one meeting. Main focus of region is on Rockhold and Steenson campaigns
Focus on County development and growth within the region
Two failed legal battles regarding open carry arrests – included Mack Worley
Region 6 Report:
No report. Region 6 currently not activated
Region 6 Discussion:
Establish Region 6 Launch Committee – Liberty on the Rocks Group, Gavin Keefe activated
Region 7 Report:
Most focus is on Spokane County party and 3 State Legislature races
Constant presence at gunshows in Spokane
Outreach to areas around WSU, focus on campus outreach after summer break
M/S by Nielson to establish 2015 Vancouver, 2016 Olympia, and 2017 Spokane as convention
forecasts. Ayes have it.
Recommendation to recruit Libertarian Attorneys
Nielson Chairman.Any proposed changes will be posted online for open dialogue.
Recommended to consider proxy voting during convention
Need legal review in prep for major party status.
o Discussed that we will not comply with RCW laws (such as gender specific limitations for
o M/S and unanimous decision to remain non-compliant and force the state to sue the
party over non-compliance to gender laws for leadership
Pickens requested that recruitment be based at the regional level using campaigns and
independent activities as part of the funds distribution return
Nielson recommended that regional membership sufficiently count as state party membership
(similar to central committee and state committee major party structure)
Recommended by Acosta to allow volunteer hours pledging count equally as money for
membership dues. Concurrence without M/S of SEC. Will require C&B change
Ellen Meunsch voluntold she was the Chair of the Membership Committee, Acosta volunteered
Data cleansing requested to clear lapsed or inactive members from list – action Nielson
Campaign Committee Prep:
Pickens recommended that committee be composed of all current active candidates
Nielson recommended goal of recruitment for all current candidates to get 3 committed
candidates for 2015 races to grow candidate pool. No M/S.
Open Forum Discussion:
Stratton recommends Jars at Rest Stops for donation and name recognition
Michael Scott discussed cross-regional outreach
Allen Acosta discussed training provided by Center for Self Governance
o Objected by Pickens for being too religious in content, recommends disassociation from
Kitsap Gun Clubs are under fire from Kitsap County. Recommend LPWA join efforts in Kitsap to
stop the government take-over of private gun clubs
Nielson and Addis discussed the LPWA suing area parade organizers for exclusion of political
candidates while allowing elected officials
