Conference Invitation

Dear Delegates and Faculty Advisors,
On behalf of the entire organizing committee, it is our great pleasure to invite you to the third session of
The Shishukunj Model United Nations to be held in The Shishukunj International School, Indore from
Thursday, July 20 to Saturday, July 22, 2017.
The Shishukunj International School is one of the most reputed co-educational schools in Indore. It is not
just another school; it is a school with a difference. The difference is in its vision and action. At
Shishukunj, learning takes place in a holistic, nurturing, and secured environment. From a modest
beginning with a handful of students in 2005 and a lot of faith in the mission ‘Let Every Bud Bloom’, we
have progressed slowly but surely, to a school which now has over hundred committed faculty advisors
and more than 2000 students.
Shishukunj Model United Nations is yet another initiative by the school which builds on the legacy of the
school’s mission statement. At Shishukunj, we believe a Model UN conference provides an unparalleled
experience where students are engulfed in an environment that is intellectually invigorating and
enthralling. Three years have passed since the Shishukunj International School launched itself into the
domain of Model United Nations, and it has never looked back. With a strong and ardent desire to make
this world a better place to live, we have grown steadily into a national conference that fosters debate
and cooperation amongst its delegates from across the country.
This year, based on the theme, ‘Reinventing and Revitalizing the Force of Humanity’, the Shishukunj
Model UN strives to embody the ideal that sensitizing young minds to global issues and worldly
considerations is the need of the hour. The twenty seventeen conference will bring together close to 500
delegates in 10 distinct committees that will cover a wide array of geographical areas and time periods.
Under the banner of this conference, we bring to you two General Assembly committees, two Economic
and Social Council bodies, two Regional bodies and four Specialized Agencies including Press Corps.
The topics we will discuss are pertinent issues in today's world. With a commitment to the experience of
our participants in mind, we are confident that every delegate will be able to find a Shishukunj MUN
committee worth participating.
We hope that Shishukunj MUN will be an opportunity for you to gain insight into the art of diplomacy,
understand the value of collaboration and compromise, and build skills in public speaking, research, and
debate. Whether you are an MUN veteran or have no prior experience in Model UN, we sincerely hope
that you will consider joining us for The Shishukunj Model United Nations 2017. Please do not hesitate to
reach out to us with any questions or concerns. We look forward to welcoming you in July!
Regards,
The Secretariat
Shishukunj Model United Nations 2017

1. All individuals registered as delegates at Shishukunj MUN must be 11 years of age or
older. All delegates must also be currently enrolled in high

found to be in violation of the Shishukunj MUN terms and conditions will be considered
ineligible for participation.
2. Teachers, administrators, and other adults 18 years of age or older affiliated to the
school are eligible to serve as faculty advisors.
 Shishukunj MUN will not allow
delegates to attend conference, unless they are accompanied by a faculty advisor.
3. All delegates must dress in Western Business Attire (WBA) while at Shishukunj MUN.
As a general rule, WBA requires that delegates dress in a
suit jacket, slacks or skirt,
dress shirt with tie, and dress shoes. If a delegate’s attire is deemed inappropriate by
Shishukunj MUN staff, the delegate will be asked to leave the session and return with
appropriate attire. Clothes that expose excessive bare skin or are otherwise revealing
are deemed inappropriate.

4. All delegates are expected to remain “in character” while at Shishukunj MUN by
consistently advocating the interests and representing the policies of the country
assigned. To act “in character” also entails displaying respect for the opinions and
ideas of fellow delegates, even if these opinions and ideas conflict with a given
delegate’s own country’s priorities. Delegates are expected to prepare adequately for
active participation in committee sessions.
a. Delegates found to be in violation of Shishukunj MUN’s Security Policies may be
barred from further participation at Shishukunj MUN and/ or expelled from the
conference without refund at the discretion of the Secretary-General.

b. Delegates who disrupt committee sessions or other conference events may be

5. Outstation delegations will be provided with accommodation (double- occupancy
standard rooms) at Hotel Effotel or similar. Delegates should conform to all norms of
the hotel. Delegates who antagonize hotel guests or otherwise disturb the peace may
be barred from further participation at Shishukunj MUN and/ or expelled from the
conference without refund at the discretion of the Secretary-General.

6. All faculty advisors are responsible for the safety, wellbeing, and conduct of their
delegates.
During the conference, faculty advisors are encouraged to attend faculty
advisor meetings and feedback sessions. Faculty advisors are required to assist the
Shishukunj MUN staff in enforcing Security Policies, Dress Code, and the terms and
conditions with regards to their school’s delegates. Faculty advisors are responsible
for ensuring that their students follow the terms and conditions.
7. All delegations are responsible for paying for and filling all slots assigned through our
country assignment process. All delegations registered by our priority deadline of
January 25, 2017 will be given preference for country assignments.
8. Country assignments will be issued on a rolling basis, dependent on receiving payment
of at least 50% of the delegation’s total fees for Shishukunj MUN. Once all countries
have been assigned or no seats remain, schools that have completed registration will
be placed on the wait-list and receive country assignments as they become available.
No delegation is guaranteed acceptance to Shishukunj MUN, even if the delegation
registers before the Priority Registration Deadline. Successfully registered delegations
will be assigned countries and committees by March 15, 2017. Committee
assignments, once released to a delegation, cannot be altered unless at the discretion
of the Secretary General.
9. Once a delegate has been registered and allotted a country, it becomes mandatory for
him/her to attend the conference. In the unlikeliest of circumstances, at the approval of
the Secretary General, if the delegate is not able to attend the session, another
delegate from the same delegation or school must replace him or her. If a spot is
unable to be replaced, the Advisor from the delegation must notify Shishukunj MUN
immediately. Shishukunj MUN reserves the right to change committee and country
assignments if delegation sizes change. Shishukunj MUN also reserves the right to bar
the delegation from participating in the conference if unnecessary withdrawals are
made or at the order of the Secretary General.
10. The Secretary-General and Director-General are the only staff members who are
