Sölvegatan LTH Campus

The development of the LTH Campus as an urban area is based on an analysis of different city shapes in the city
of Lund : compared to other areas, Klas Anshelm’s modern campus project is lacking activity, mixity, density and
quality in its green spaces. As such, the campus is not attractive for the inhabitants of Lund and is left as a vast
empty area for most of the year.
This project offers an answer to the situation in three different steps. First, a new sequence of activities will take
place along the existing park that crosses the whole campus. With the tramway line planned for 2019, these
activities will gather student as well as Lund inhabitants all year round.
Secondly, once the area is more frequented, community infrastructure will improve the experience around the
different activities. New shops will appear around key nodes as the tram stop giving a start to a densification
of the area. At the same time, most of the campus will be transformed in a car free area while the quality of the
pedestrian network will be enhanced.
Finally, the densification will be developed with housing starting around the nodes and spreading across the
campus for a more mixified and enliven campus.

FRAG
Frag is a project for the transformation of an abandoned brownfield in Lausanne’s suburb to an urban
district. The site is defined North by a strong slope offering a panoramic view on the Geneva lake and the
Alpes, West by a small stream and South by a large
street with high a frequency of public transports.

These limits are characterized by a high density building fragments. These fragments become smaller and
more distant to each other as they are enclosing the
central park of the neighborhood. This system offers a
variety of inner typology and outdoor spaces.

After natural disasters, the delivery of material is often lost through
corrupted organisation. This project imagines the use of metal containers as a resource that could not be stolen. The simulation takes
place in Pethapur, in North Eastern India, where the environment is
especially dry and warm.

ABRIS
The containers would be covered by mud and locally produced bricks
to resist the temperature. A ten year program would also guide the
development of the urban system and the extension of the housing.

The experience was one week long and took place on the EPFL
premises. It included working with engineering and environmental
sciences students. Water distribution system and structure were an
important part of the project as much as urbanism and housing typologies. A 1:1 scaled construction was also built during this week.
