Approximately 75 members joined us for our Annual
Holiday Party. Starting at 5:00 p.m. on December 9th,
everyone pitched in to help transform our usually sparse
clubhouse into a winter wonderland. Everywhere we
looked, decorations were being strung, punch was being
poured, desserts were being displayed, and numerous
dishes were being set out. The tables were teeming with
members’ favorite family recipes, including carrot soufflé,
corn pudding, turkey dressing, mashed potatoes and gravy,
stuffing, string bean casserole, ham, pulled pork, turkey,
cranberries and so much more!
We were pleasantly surprised when our good friends at
PA BBQ (Park Avenue BBQ Grille) in Lake Worth
generously donated 10 pounds of delicious pulled pork
and sauce! Another fun surprise came in the form of a
yummy chocolate sheet cake sent courtesy of Chicago
club member Bruce Marta, who was unable to attend.
Every family received a gift, beautifully wrapped by
Amy and Steve Hamedl and Jan Smirnow. Paul and
Marge Hamlin of Seashore Gifts of Lantana placed
secret tags on several of the wrapped presents, earning the
winners a special prize. Four lucky members each won an
enormous Australian Trumpet Sea Shell.
Special thanks go to Jan Smirnow for organizing the
Dessert Contest and prizes, Mindy Spiroch for serving as
emcee, Linda Bennett for the endless hours she puts in
each year, Steve Hoskins for taking all those wonderful
pictures, Ed D’Amato for decorating outside with holiday
lights, Elayne Lynch and Heather McNew for setting up
the food tables, Karl and Linda Bennett, Gail Hoskins,
Karen Larson, and Elayne Lynch for setting up the
tables and decorations, Gary McNew for the sound
system, and Stacey deLucia for the holiday music and
trees. It took a great committee to have a first-rate party!

Performing Random Acts of Kindness
The GCTC recognizes members who provide selfless
service to our community. The first time a member returns
an item, that individual receives a metal detecting pin
(handcrafted by Steve Hoskins) to wear on his or her hat,
in addition to a certificate of appreciation. Future returns
are recognized by additional certificates. Kudos to all club
members who serve as “Ambassadors of Good Will” and
enhance the public’s perception of our hobby!
