Dear family and friends,
Peace and abundant Grace in Christ Jesus!
For years, God has given me a passion-driven desire to go to seminary to pursue His call in Biblical Studies to
be a shepherd, in the ministry of preaching and teaching His flock. Being a law student, this calling came to me
as a fork in the road, somehow. For years I have prayed over and sought God’s wisdom, which of the two I
must choose. To my joy, the Lord answered my prayer through giving me His peace, to stay and flourish where
I was found, which is law school. So, I made a commitment to honor my parents, to finish my Law Degree, and
God-willing, take the Bar Exams in 2012. I am still unsure how God will use my law degree in the future,
though I am very excited to wait and see His ways unfold. I’m confident He has great plans to impact the world
through me and what I have in my hands. I have resolved on one hand, to finish law school, and on the other,
to use my life, gifts and desire to serve the church, through preaching. An answered prayer and more, that I’m
called to serve Him and His purpose on both fields!
Since my first day in the faith, the Lord has given me wonderful opportunities to “grow in grace and knowledge
of Him” (2 Peter 1:2). I am thankful to Him for being trained and discipled in my home church, Union Church
of Manila, through serving in the youth ministry. He has been good and faithful by equipping me as a Youth
Ministry Intern for two (2) whole years! This opportunity has affirmed to me my gifts and continues to
reinforce my joy in serving the church, through preaching and pastoring, specifically in the youth ministry.
While waiting and searching on God’s call, I was very blessed to be awarded Scholarships to attend the
Shepherd’s Conference in Los Angeles, California on March 9-13, 2011 and The Gospel Coalition (TGC)
National Conference, in Chicago, Illinois on April 12-14, 2011! I continue to be in awe of His kindness to
me, His faithful albeit imperfect servant.
The Shepherd’s Conference in Los Angeles aims to equip pastors and ministers, through sessions & workshops,
with the goal of giving a Biblical foundation of truth and love in the service of the Chief Shepherd, who is
Jesus Christ. On the other hand, the TGC National Conference in Chicago, has this year’s theme to preach Jesus
out of the Old Testament, giving a biblical perspective on training leaders to exalt Christ in every passage of
Scripture, also through sessions & workshops.
So in this three-month endeavor, my goals are:
First, to ATTEND the two conferences and learn personally from shepherds and elders who faithfully serve
the church.
Second, to take the opportunity to QUEST for my next step in my calling. To look at seminaries in the U.S.
and for scholarships, if the Lord opens the right paths.
Third, to SERVE the local church communities while I am there. I have been welcomed to serve:
1) In the children’s and youth ministry of the San Diego Christian Fellowship in California
2) In the college ministry of Gospel Life Church of Bowie, Maryland
I have prayerfully chosen you to receive this letter to humbly entreat you to be in partnership with me, as I
follow God’s call in my life. I will be asking for your help.

First, I would like to ask you to pray for me. I know so little of what the pastoral life entails. I have so much to
learn and experience in the challenges ahead. But I take joy in what I have graciously received in Christ—a
desire and zeal in serving His church. Also a heart given to me (and to all Christians), for an unquenchable
desire for His Glory through His people’s joy in Him!
Second, I will need your support financially. I ask you to prayerfully consider, for what God may be calling you
to give. Please don’t feel pressured to give, but encouraged that you can take part, with what your circumstances
permit, in His work through me and my journey & training. The Lord said, through Apostle Paul, “each of you
should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a
cheerful giver.” (2 Corinthians 9:7)
I will need to raise funds to cover my airfare, food, and living expenses for the duration of my trip and mission.
Also, any help with means of living, through host families, for four (4) days in Los Angeles, California
(preferably near Roscoe Blvd. and Hollywood freeway) and three (3) days in downtown Chicago (near the
Magnificent Mile) would be very helpful! Would appreciate your response, hopefully before February 20, 2011,
as I’m scheduled to leave for Los Angeles, March 7, 2011.
