Western Kentucky University, Photojournalist
In brief, born in a small town, bought camera, liked camera, went to school with camera.
I like to say I’m trying to show the visual landscape of the South, but really, I just shoot things. I get excited about
golden hour and can’t help but smile when I catch a perfectly framed reflection or get that profile just right. If I
could pin down a purpose for my photos it would be to convey the wonder I find in simple scenes.
Experience
1987-2006 - Unemployed, generally messed around, totaled first car, wasted a lot of time being born, growing up, and
going to school, job shadowed at the Times Journal in Russell Springs, Ky under Greg Wells.
2006-2007 - Graduated from Russell County High School, spent a summer doing stock at Sav-A-Lot, started at WKU in
the Fall of 2006.
2007-2008 - Switched to Civil Engineering after a semester in Photojournalism, learned a lot about physics but it wasn’t
for me. Still took photos, helped shoot for Rise Over Run Magazine, a short run student publication.
2008-2009 - Switched back to Photojournalism, worked as a staff photographer at the College Heights Herald during
the Fall semester of 2008.
2009-2010 - Spent most of my time on school, participated as a photographer in the 2010 Appalachian Cultural Project
under the coaching of Sam Dean from the Roanoke Times.
