Rhinebeck Fairy Sock 2009
Supplies:
25 yards of Unplanned Peacock Peacock
Sock yarn (Merino and Nylon blend) per
sock
Size 1 double pointed needles
Cast on 24 sts on size 1 dpn's. Join, being
careful not to twist. You should have 8 sts
per needle.
Cuff:
Round 1: k1, p1, repeat to end.
2: p1, k1, repeat to end.
3: k1, p1, repeat to end
4: p1, k1, repeat to end.
5: k2tog, knit rest of row
6: knit
7: k2, *yo, p1, p3tog, p1, yo, k2; repeat from * to end
8,9,10: knit
11-22: Repeat rows 7-10 three times
23: k6
Heel Flap:
Divide stitches so that the last 6 stitches and the first 6 stitches are on the same needle.
Knit back and forth in stockinette stitch on this needle, slipping the first stitch of each
row until the flap measures one inch. End after a purl row.

Turning the Heel:
Slip 1, k6, k2tog, k1. Turn. Slip 1, p3, p2tog, p1. Turn. Slip 1, k4, k2tog, k1. Turn.
Slip 1, p5, p2tog, p1. Turn. Slip 1, knit across row.
Heel Gusset:
Using a new needle, pick up and knit 6 stitches along the side of the heel flap.
Top of the foot: K3, yo, p1, p3tog, p1, yo, k3.
Using a new needle, pick up and knit 6 stitches along the other side of the heel flap. Knit
4 stitches of heel onto this needle. Put 4 remaining heel stitches on the next needle so
you are working with 3 needles again. Stitches on the top of the foot will be bold.
Round 1: k7, k2tog,k1, knit across top, k1, ssk, k7
2. Knit.
3. k6, k2tog, k1, knit across top, k1, ssk, k6
4 k8, k3, yo, p1, p3tog, p1, yo, k3, k8
5. k5, k2tog, k1, knit across top, k1, ssk, k5
Foot:
6-7. knit
8. k7, k3, yo, p1, p3tog, p1, yo, k3, k7
9-11. knit
12. k7, k3, yo, p1, p3tog, p1, yo, k3, k7
13-15. knit
16. k7, k3, yo, p1, p3tog, p1, yo, k3, k7
17-19. knit
Toe:
20. k4, k2tog,k1, k1, ssk, yo, p1, p3 tog, p1, yo, k2tog, k1, k1, ssk, k4
21. knit
22. k3, k2tog, k1, k1, ssk, k3, k2tog, k1, k1, ssk, k3

Thread a yarn needle with 4 inches of remaining wool, thread through live stitches, and
pull tight, weaving in the ends.
