NoSoKnit Fairy Sock 2010
Supplies:
25 yards of Unplanned Peacock Superwash Merino Fingering Weight yarn per sock
Size 1 double pointed needles
Cast on 28 sts on size 1 dpn's. Join, being careful not to twist. You should have 8 sts on
each top needle and 6 stitches on each side needle.
Cuff:
Round 1: k
2: p
3: k
4: p
5-8: *k1, sl1, repeat from *.
9: p
10-13: *sl1, k1, repeat from *.
14: p
15-24: repeat rows 5-14.
Heel Flap:
Divide stitches so that the last 6 stitches and the first 6 stitches are on the same needle.
Knit back and forth in stockinette stitch on this needle, slipping the first stitch of each
row until the flap measures one inch. End after a purl row.
Turning the Heel:
Slip 1, k6, k2tog, k1. Turn. Slip 1, p3, p2tog, p1. Turn. Slip 1, k4, k2tog, k1. Turn.
Slip 1, p5, p2tog, p1. Turn. Slip 1, knit across row.
Heel Gusset:
Using a new needle, pick up and knit 6 stitches along the side of the heel flap.
Top of the foot: k1, sl1, repeat from * across top 2 needles. (top of foot instructions
will be in bold).
Using a new needle, pick up and knit 6 stitches along the other side of the heel flap. Knit
4 stitches of heel onto this needle. Put 4 remaining heel stitches on the next needle so
you are working with 3 needles again. Stitches on the top of the foot will be bold.
Round 1: k7, k2tog,k1, *k1, sl1, repeat from * across top 2 needles, k1, ssk, k7
2. k9, *k1, sl1, repeat from * across top 2 needles, k9
3. k6, k2tog, k1, *k1, sl1, repeat from * across top 2 needles, k1, ssk, k6
4. k7, *k1, sl1, repeat from * across top 2 needles, k7
5. k5, k2tog, k1, p across top 2 needles, k1, ssk, k5
Foot:
6-9. k7, *sl1, k1, repeat from * across 2 top needles, k7
10. k7, p across 2 top needles, k7
11-14. k7, *k1, sl1, repeat from * across 2 top needles, k7
15. k7, p across 2 top needles, k7
