ABSTRACT:

This project is mainly inspired from the exercising cycling machine
where people work out early morning or during the evening. This energy can
be put to good use by connecting the rotating motion of the wheel of the cycle
to drive the shaft of the washing machine which in turn would rotate the drum.
This can be achieved using suitable intermediate mechanism which is placed
between the rotating wheel and the shaft of the washing machine

Our project is developed keeping India’s energy crisis in mind.
Washing machine is one equipment which is used in almost every house due to
its ease of use and compactness. However power or electricity is required to
run this machine. Also availability of electricity is our country especially in the
rural areas is not sufficient. We are familiar to the power unavailability in many
villages and power cut in urban areas. Even in developed states like Tamil
Nadu we witness an average of 3 hours of power cut every day. So we were
keen in developing this machine in such a way that it is not dependent on
electricity and yet serves an equal purpose.

Our project aims in combining the pedaling system which is capable in
running a drum of suitable size and also which is cost efficient so that this

product is affordable by the people living in villages. Though the
construction and concept of this project is relatively simple compared to
the new advances in technology, it does however serve a social cause in
a developing country like India. We believe , that as engineers we need it
is our duty to take the country forward and best step towards it is to help
the society.
