Now in its fourth year, the New Year’s Eve Pensacola
Pelican Drop™ is a proven success, drawing more than
50,000 people from across the region and the country
to Downtown Pensacola.
The Downtown Improvement Board invites everyone
to celebrate the Pensacola Pelican Drop™ and the
beginning of a New Year on the Gulf Coast.
The 2014 Pensacola Pelican Drop™ begins at 5 p.m.
and continues through the night until 12:30 a.m.,
bringing people of all ages, a variety of live music,
street performances, food and drinks and other fun for
this incredible celebration to the ultimate community
party. The Pensacola Pelican Drop™ also includes a
children and teen pavilion and three entertainment stages.
The highlight of the night will be the midnight Pelican
Drop™. New York has their crystal ball, but here in
Pensacola a 13-foot illuminated Pelican with more
than 1,500 sparkling lights on its 20-foot wingspan
will carry us into the New Year. The countdown will
draw all eyes to the Pelican, with a Pelican lighting
as the Children’s Event at 8 p.m. and again with a
traditiona idni t drop co p ete it fire or s and
confetti. Throughout the evening he will be perched
above the celebration, keeping watch from a 100-foottall platform at the intersection of Palafox and
Government Street.
