Prepare the forks, ready the brushes! The Pacific Art League of Palo Alto (PAL) invites all artists to submit work for a regional competition and juried exhibition featuring food—from farm to factory, from sea to plate, the bland and delectable, a snack and feast—to be held March 7 -27, 2014. Submission Deadline: Thursday, February 13, 2014; All entries with payment must be submitted electronically by 11:59 PM. Any entries without payment will be withdrawn from consideration. Submission Fee: Members: $25 for 2 entries, $5 for each additional entry; Non-members: $35 for 2 entries, $10 for each additional entry (Nonrefundable) Submission Process: TIFF, BMP, JPG, or PNG images, no less than 800 pixels long, of your artwork must be submitted electronically at www.OnlineJuriedShows.com. A tutorial on how to submit is available on the How OJS Works page. Directions on how to photograph your work and properly size images can be found on the Help page. After you’ve submitted, continue to checkout, pay through PayPal or with a credit card, and receive your receipt. About the Exhibit: “The Art in Food: Farm, Table, Community” is a regional competition and juried exhibition in collaboration with the San Jose Museum of Art and over 50 partners across the Bay Area to organize an extensive community presentation of food, creativity and community. See the San Jose Museum of Art website for more information. Eligibility: Open to all artists working in 2-D and 3-D forms of artistic media. No film, video and/or installation. Exhibition Dates: March 7 - 27, 2014 Opening Reception: Friday, March 7, 2014 Awards: 1st: $250, 2nd: $125, 3rd: $75; 3 Honorable Mentions Exhibition Guidelines:  Open to all artists in the Pacific region.  All work must be original and not previously exhibited at PAL,  All work must be ready to hang with proper hanging device.  All work must be for sale. Members receive 70% on sales; and nonmembers receive 60%.  Size of work is limited to 40” (with frame) on longest side.  All work must be labeled on the front and back with artist’s name, title, medium, size and price. - - @ Notification of Selections: Wednesday, February 19, 2014; Artists will be notified by email and/or telephone. Hand-delivery of accepted work: Friday & Saturday, February 28 – March 1, 2014, 10 AM – 4 PM; All work must be hand-delivered to PAL. No shipped work will be accepted. Pick-up work: Friday & Saturday, March 28 – 29, 2014, 10 AM – 4 PM About the Juror: Valéria Miranda has been working in museums, nonprofits, and the arts for over 20 years. Formerly the Director of Education at the San Jose Museum of Art, she currently is a fellow of the Multicultural Artists Leadership Institute (San Jose), a professional development opportunity for leaders of color in the arts, and is a member of the Graduate Program faculty at the Academy of Art University (San Francisco). In January 2013, she founded and serves as Director of Vida Arts (Santa Cruz), a social enterprise committed to facilitating sustainable connections between artists and community.
