Middle School Tryouts Next Week!

From the Athletic Director…

The Middle School basketball season quickly will soon
th
th
be upon us all. Middle School basketball (7 and 8
grade) will have tryouts from January 6-10, with each
practice occurring from 3-5pm. Students will need to
have a physical on file with the main office/athletic
office before they are allowed to participate.

“On December 20th, 2013, it was communicated to me
that ALL parent drivers must have an I-Chat form
(background check) completed in order to transport
student-athletes to/from athletic contests.
This
pertains to parents transporting athletes that are not
their own children. Please communicate this new
procedure immediately to your parents. The I-chat
form (can be found on the school website) and must be
submitted to the athletic office.

Games begin on January 20. The middle school season
culminates with an exciting day of basketball on
Saturday, March 1, as all conference (BWAC) middle
school teams play their last games at St. Clair College!

Upcoming Game Action
The varsity and JV teams both host Parkway Christian
HS on Saturday January 4. The start time for the JV is
11:30am, with the varsity playing after (1:00pm).
On Tuesday, December 31, the Varsity team will head
to Port Huron Northern HS for a morning scrimmage,
10am-noon. This will be a carpool situation, and we
will depart Richmond HS at 9:00am. All families and
fans are welcome to attend the scrimmage.
The Freshmen Team does not return to action until
January 9, when they host Capac at home at 4:30pm.

Games Result for HS Teams
The Varsity and JV teams hosted Peck HS on Saturday
December 28. The JV team won in convincing fashion
to improve their record to 3-1 overall. The Varsity
team lost in overtime, 54-51, dropping their overall
record to 3-1.

The Men’s Basketball Program here at Richmond
Schools and our coaching staff would like to wish all
players, families, and fans a safe a Happy New Year!

In addition, coaches will now have to fill out a “driving
records” form after each contest when parents are
driving athletes. Coaches MUST submit these forms to
the athletic office within 48 hours of the athletic
contest. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated.”

These new procedures go into effect on January 6. At
this point, we only have one event that is a carpool
situation: February 4 At Ortonville Brandon (Freshmen
game). We are trying to secure a bus to that game, to
save the parents and coaches the hassles of dealing
with these new policies. We will keep you posted.
