ALBUM REVIEW
THE NEIGHBORHOOD / I LOVE YOU / 2013 [INDI ROCK, INDI POP, TRIP HOP]

THE NEIGHBOURHOOD MUSIC STYLE
Who is the NBHD?”, you ask. The answer is, “Young, but famous”.
What are they famous for? Individual look and music style. Unique,
metallic and cold but soft tunes. Simultaneously complex and simple
sound. These inconsistent things are connected together, making the
deep and grey gulf, named indi rock.

ALBUM REVIEW
Three singles were officially
announced in the “I love you”
album, it can be said without any
exaggerating that every track is a
single. Album is excellent and has
many black mood sides. Although,
some slips should be made here, if
you you’re easy-going and simple
music freak, for example, pop or
house music, this is obviously not
for you. Songs are complex and
simple simultaneously. Somebody
would ask, “How can it be
possible?”. Answer is here: highquality music with complicated
sounding and delicate music, these
elements make an ideal and simple
composition: constant . We can see
such album here.
What is the picture forming
in the mind during the listening?
Mixture of grey, black and white
colors, one of them dominates from
time to time in the mind, relaxing
melancholy in the pure form.
Grey album cover, obviously
it was chosen not by chance, but
don’t judge the book by its cover!
This fact can be considered as
thought-over step. Grotesque,
melancholy mixed with lyrics which
are full of sense. About sense. The
same lyrics can be felt in different
ways, depending on situation and
mood, but all the same, there was a
feeling of some kind of black or
grey inflection again and again.
Depressive and dark but at the
same time relaxing tunes, you will
be momentary inspired with grey
sound of the Neighbourhood. Feel
the halo of emptiness.

It seems that all tracks were
produced so perfectly that some
defects certainly must be there but
there is no this thing here. This
album makes all things to be crazy
about it. “I love you” is a result of
awesome work, combination of
several genres which gives us
absolutely new music genre and
break the rules. Trip hop plus indi
rock and we get pop music in the
final. Former underground music
has become popular in a flash.
To finish with, it should be
noticed that album gives bright
emotions and sexuality in spite of
talking about melancholy and black
color. Melancholy can be pleasant.
This album is the best proof.

RATING 9/10
