Lubbock Habitat introduces newest homeowner
Low to moderate income families are urged to attend
[LUBBOCK, Texas] (November 17, 2013) — Lubbock Habitat for Humanity will host a
Homeowner Workshop on Saturday, April 26, 2014 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the
Byron Martin Advanced Technology Center. This is an opportunity for low to moderate
income families to learn the basics homeownership and how to become a Habitat
homeowner.
Lubbock residents interested in owning a Habitat home should start by attending this
workshop. Attendees will learn about several aspects of homeownership from financing
to insurance. At the end of the workshop, attendees will receive a certificate and be
eligible to apply for a Habitat home.
Acceptance into the program is based on three criteria. Applicants are selected
according to their need, ability to repay the no profit, no interest mortgage and their
willingness to partner with Habitat. “We have several homes available, we just need
families to fill them,” said Executive Director Marie Hanza.
With these workshops Lubbock Habitat hopes to realize its vision of a community
where everyone has a safe place to live. Habitat will begin the development of a new
subdivision in 2014. Made possible by a grant from the Talkington Foundation, phase
one of this project will provide affordable homes for 36 local families in need.
This is the last Homeowner Workshop that will be offered in 2013. Attendees should be
prepared to stay for the entire three hours and bring photo identification. The Byron
Martin Advanced Technology Center is located at 3201 Avenue Q. No childcare will be
provided.
