THE ASCLEPIAN VOICE
T
here is less than a week to go
before class resumes again,
but the Order of Asclepius
cannot be deterred to stay true to its
commitment to be of service to the
Filipino people.
Last June 4, 2014, members
of the Order braved the distance and
3-hour travel to Sitio Taloto-an, Pan
De Azucar, Concepcion to personally
give school supplies to the 130
students of Donato Valderrama
Primary School. Each student
received 7 notebooks, 2 pencils, 1
pad paper, 1 sharpener, 1 eraser,
crayons and 2 envelopes courtesy of
Bernasol Education Foundation.
The Bernasol Educational
Foundation aims to extend help and
provide resources to impoverished
areas in the Philippines, focusing on
educational development, technical
and
spiritual
support
for
communities in need. It was founded
by Godofredo “Bernie” Bernasol, Jr.,
owner and CEO of Bernasol
Enterprise, Inc. in Chicago. Having
come from a humble beginning in
South Cotabato, he is passionate in
By Mark Iwag
his vision to do missions and relief
operations across the country.
The activity was spearheaded
by JMA Argee Alonsable and GLA
Angeli Nicole Portigo together with
resident asclepians Mark Dominic
Iwag and Jeffrey Millan. In exchange
for the supplies the students
promised to study hard and never
take the value of education for
granted. It was very fulfilling and it
brought smiles to the students,
teachers and parents who were
present.
This activity marks the last
one for this summer. The resident
members would like to express their
gratitude to all the Asclepians for
their support and generosity.
Another school year is about to start
and a lot more can be expected from
the Order. The resident members
would gladly receive any help, in
kind or in cash. You may contact GLA
Portigo at 09285024601 or JMA
Alonsabe at 09222900634 for
inquiries, or deposit at the official
BPI account 1333308408.
