MEET SANJEEV SOMANI
IT LEAD, SOUTH ASIA
I joined Invitrogen (Life technologies)
Bangalore, India back in September of 2009.
It’s been five years now!
Having worked on various process and
business improvement projects in Supply
Chain and Manufacturing during my first
year, I played a key role in the acquisition of
Lab India in leading the IT effort from India’s perspective.
Presently, I am heading IT for the LSG Group in India for 4 years now – managing 5
offices in India and supporting the growth from a small 50+ organization to a 350+
employee organization spread across India. In my role I am defining: IT Strategy, IT
Infrastructure, IT Operations, Business Applications, and M&A.
I am also currently building out the Technology Development Center (Captive Center for
Global IT) in Bangalore. Having conceptualized the model from design, cost, org
structure, facilities, working model, to actually getting the CIO and his leadership to
approve this strategic initiative – it’s been a great journey!
After relentlessly pursuing this strategic vision for 2 years, I finally won an approval to
pilot the hiring of 10 resources in 2013!
We’ve been on this journey for 4 years now. The first 2 years were dedicated to putting
the concept and model together and gaining leadership approval. The last 2 years have
been dedicated to attracting and hiring the best possible talent from the industry. The
next 2 years are going to be dedicated to retention – Engagement, Training, and Career
Development.
My goal now, as the TDC lead is to ensure that the teams we are building continue to
stay motivated, dedicated, focused, and excited about joining Thermo Fisher Scientific
and the TDC here in Bangalore, India!
Being part for the TDC journey has been a once in a lifetime opportunity for me...
