BOYS BENEFIT FROM CIRCUMCISION DRIVE
IN HANDUMANAN, BACOLOD CITY

T

he surgical mission
drive
continues
to
reach out for another
set of school-age boys
set to undergo a procedure
customarily followed by most male
Filipinos, circumcision.
The
Order
of
Asclepius,
together with the Rotaract Club of
Bacolod South continues to provide
free circumcision at Handumanan I
Elementary
School,
Barangay
Handumanan, Bacolod City, Negros
Occidental on April 12, 2015.
A total of 150 boys aged 8 – 16
years old pre-registered for the
said event and 121 of them where
successfully circumcised. Pain
medications and antibiotics were
given to participants as well as
health education for home care of
the surgical site were provided.
The day-long activity sought to

provide accessible and free
surgical
services
to
our
countrymen in the community
setting. It also depicts the Order
of Asclepius’ thrust to uphold
brotherhood in medicine through
service.
It can be noted that the Order
of Asclepius partnered with the
Rotary Club of Bacolod South for a
two-day surgical mission in the
same institution which benefited
some 200 school-age boys.
The said activity was made
possible through the support of
the following: Dr. Chris Sorongon
(Batch 24), Rotaract Club of
Bacolod South, St. Paul UniversityIloilo Jesubelles Batch ’70,
Handumanan I Elementary School
Parent-Teacher Association,
Handumanan Barangay Council,
medical students of West Visayas

State university and University of
St. La Salle Bacolod.#
