Extraneous Consideration to select the VC of LNUPE (PDF)

Subject: Extraneous Consideration and Bribery to Pick and Choose Dr. Dilip
Purreha (from BHU) for the post of Vice-Chancellor, LNUPE,
Gwalior.

Respected Sir,
With due respect, we, the faculty members of LNUPE, Gwalior, wish to bring to
your notice that bribery and favoritism has taken place in the selection of Dr. Dilip
Purreha for the post of Vice-Chancellor of LNUPE, Gwalior, by bypassing the
recommendations of the Selection Committee. This University falls under the
control and management of Central Govt. through the Ministry of Youth Welfare
and Sports, and currently the Hon’ble Minister Sh. Sadanand Sonowal is handling
the affairs on behalf of the Central Govt.

A Search-cum-Selection Committee was constituted for the selection and
appointment of the regular Vice-Chancellor and the interview was held on March
19-20, 2015 at Shastri Bhawan, Ministry of Youth and Sports Welfare, whereafter
the recommendations were sent to the Ministry for appointment of a regular VC.
The said selection committee had recommended the names of 3 Professors out of
whom one was to be selected in order of priority. It was the prerogative of the
Selection Committee to consider all the factors like qualification, experience,
achievements of the candidates before recommending the names for the selection
as the VC. But the Hon’ble Minister Sh. Sadanand Sonowal (from Assam), who is
handling the affairs of LNUPE on behalf of the Central Govt. bypassed the
recommendations of the Selection Committee without giving as reasoned
order/noting in the file and thus chose the Candidate Dr. Dilip Purreha who was in
the No.3 position in the list and lower in merit.

It is widely known to each and every person associated with the Sports and
Physical Education, that the said selection has been made by the said Minister
after charging hefty amount running into Lacs of rupees as bribe through Dr.
Vishwajeet Basu Mathari, who is acting as the Officiating Principal of LNIPE,
Guwahati. Vishwajeet Basu Mathari was the classmate of Dr. Dilip Puirreha at
LNIPE, Gwalior and he alongwith his elder brother, Mr. Subhash Basu Mathari,
who has been given Additional Charge as the Director of Regional Centre, SAI

(North-East) on the blessings of the said Minister Sonowal, connived together to
strike a deal with the Minister to secure appointment of Dr. Dilip Purreha as
the Vice-Chancelor of LNUPE, Gwalior.

The trinity of Mr. Sonowal, Dr. Vishwajeet Basu and Subhash Basu is dominating the
field of sports to mint money by resorting to all the malpractices. Was it the much
publicized slogan 'Acche Din Aane Wale Hain' actually meant for? Or is it that
the said slogan was exclusively meant for the corrupt people whose “good
days” have really descended after you became the Prime Minister of India.

You are requested to intervene into the matter to see into the facts of the case
personally, reverse the illegality committed for the selection of the VC and
institute a CBI Inquiry into the whole matter to ferret out the truth behind the
scene.
