IT’S REUNION TIME
FOR THE WILSON MEMORIAL HIGH SCHOOL
CLASS OF 1970!
Can you believe it’s been 45 years?
Let’s start our weekend by showing off our ”Hornet Pride!”
We have reserved a block of seats for the Wilson/Luray football game at
7:00, Friday, October 2nd. Entrance fee is $5. Later, we’ll get together
in the sunroom at the Depot Grille Restaurant (42 Middlebrook Ave. Staunton) after the
game for light refreshments. This will be at your own expense.
Directions from WMHS to the Depot: From Wilson, take 250 West toward Staunton (6 mi.)
Turn right onto Greenville Ave. Turn left to stay on Greenville Ave., then left onto S. Augusta
Street. Turn right on Middlebrook Ave. Make a left at the “Staunton Station” sign into the
parking area. The restaurant will be on the left across from the “cabooses.” Parking will be in
front and to the side. If the lot is full, you can also park in the Wharf Parking lot below. Go
back out to the parking lot entrance and take a left onto Middlebrook Ave. Go down the hill,
(you will see a sign on the left, marking the steps leading back up to the restaurant) where you
will see a shop straight ahead, called Sunspots. Take a right onto S. Lewis St. and then another
immediate right into the Wharf parking area. At this end of the Wharf parking lot, walk up the
steps near “Shenandoah Hops,” back up to Middlebrook Ave. Across the street is the set of
steps that will lead up to the restaurant. (Marked with green and white balloons.)

But that’s not all!! Our reunion celebration picnic will be held on
Saturday, October 3rd at Royal Oaks in beautiful Love, Va., just
up from Sherando. Our classmate, Keith Smith, is graciously
hosting us at this lovely venue. See the insert for directions and
information for lodging. Arrive anytime after 3:00. A catered picnic dinner
will begin at 5:00. Cost for the evening is $35/person. We’ll have a bluegrass
band and a 50/50 raffle, as well!
Menu:

-Pulled pork BBQ w/ slaw and buns
-Tossed salad
-Country style green beans

-Mac and cheese
-Sweetened & unsweetened iced tea/water
-Dessert
-BYOB

Of course, we can’t forget the TEACHERS! We are really excited to
have some of the former Wilson faculty attending our reunion. We
would love for classmates to “adopt a teacher” for the evening.
Donations will go toward the cost of the teachers’ dinners, so
they can join us as our guests. If you would like to participate,
please add your donation in your payment. We’d appreciate any
contributions to help with our reunion expenses!

LODGING INFORMATION:
As you can see from the insert, we are so fortunate that
Keith Smith is opening up his venue, Royal Oaks, for our
reunion! He is “blocking off” the weekend of October 2/3 for any classmates who
would like to stay at Royal Oaks. He will guarantee availability (2-night minimumTh/Fri, Fri/Sat, Sat/ Sun.) for reunion guests until September 1st. (After this
time, he will open these dates to the public.) We encourage classmates to take
advantage of this opportunity. You may even want share one of the larger houses
with other classmates.
Be sure to go to the website www.vacabins.com for details. A “hornet” icon will
take you to the special information for WMHS classmates. You will see photos and
descriptions of the cabins and houses (many are pet-friendly), along with rates
for reservations. Green Hornets will receive a 15% discounted rate!
Important - since the reservations are blocked off just for us on the
website, you will need to make reservations over the phone. Instructions will
be on the website.
We are so excited about this tremendous milestone in our reunion history! We
hope you will make every effort to be a part of this special occasion!
