OA PARTNERS WITH ASSUMPTION ILOILO
FOR ANNUAL MEDICAL – DENTAL CLINIC

L

ast September 29, 2015,
the Order of Asclepius
embarked on another
medical-dental mission,
this time in partnership with
Assumption Iloilo. Every year,
Assumption Iloilo holds a free
Medical and Dental Clinic at their
campus in Gen. Luna St. in order to
reach out and provide quality
health services to selected schools
and communities from Iloilo City.
The said event seeks to provide
fre e me dic al an d de nt al
consultations as well as
medications to the beneficiaries.
This year’s team comprised of
nursing and medical students,
registered nurses, Red Cross
volunteers, optometrists, dentists
and doctors who specialized in
family & community medicine,
internal medicine, pediatrics,

obstetrics and gynecology,
ophthalmology,
and
otorhinolaryngology (ENT). The
team was able to serve around 655
people from Assumption’s partner
schools and communities. The
beneficiaries for this year were
from Sapao Elementary School in
Dumangas, Iloilo, Bo. Obrero, and
Barangay Rima in Sta. Teresita.
This year’s medical and dental
mission was spearheaded by
Ass umption PTA co -ch airs
Dr. Joefil Isidro and Dr. Dawn
Marie Tindog - Isidro (Batch 15).
Several doctors as well as surgical
residents and post graduate
interns from West Visayas State
University Medical Center also
volunteered for the event.
Notable doctors from
WVSU-COM who took part in the
event were: Dr. Ma. Sancha

Pauline Apolto – Garcia (Batch 8,
Adviser of OA Batch 39),
Dr.
Jeffrey Gellada, and Dr. Celina
Cordero – Gellada.
Resident members who were
present were Stephanie Lucero,
John Ramel Rafael, Mitz Serofia,
Raissa Juntado, Jeffrey Millan Jr.
and Aljeirou Alcachupas of Batch
37. Members from Batch 39
consisted of Roger Astrolabio, Carl
Bernabe, Genessa Buenafe, Mark
Catan, Dominick Diño, Ricky Jaleco,
Demi Oto and Precious Bulilan.
Oto and Bulilan, who studied at
Assumption Iloilo from grade
school to high school, were happy
to give back to their beloved alma
matter. When asked how it felt to
be back at Assumption Iloilo, Oto
said, “I was happy to see our
teachers again and happy to see that
they still remembered us.” #
