Dearest Ulrike Schlemmer
On behalf of Camphill Village West Coast we would like to thank you for the wonderful
donation of a suitcase and rucksack full of beautiful clothing.
We collected the clothes from your hotel and have given it to one of our residents Shirley
Tamba. It was such a joy watching her open the case and taking out the clothing one by one,
trying it on and dancing as she tried every item singing: “I love this, I love this”. And exclaiming
this is for Church, this is for Beach, this is for outing. Once again I feel humbled witnessing this
pure appreciation of the things we often take for granted. The pants with the diamantes on
were cause great celebration. Shirley has never had such beautiful clothes to wear and to
receive it all at once was a first in her life.
The joy you have given this lovely lady cannot be explained in words, I hope the pictures
convey the story. Shirley come from poor, disadvantaged circumstances and has no family who
can assist financially or any other way. She is a lovely, joyful, beautiful person. Shirley’s dream
is be a good cook one day and she is learning during the weekends in the group home where
she lives.
Thank you for this early Christmas gift for Shirley, we cannot thank you enough.
