JOSEPH THE DREAMER
January 24, 2016

READ IT.
Read the story of Joseph from a Children’s Bible. You can also download a
Children’s Bible App:
• Beginner’s Bible: Joseph’s Robe, Pharaoh’s Dreams, & Joseph’s Family
• Bible for Kids (by YouVersion): The Dreamer & Dreams Come True

TALK ABOUT IT.
1. What were Joseph’s dreams and what did they mean? (The sun, moon and stars
all bowed down to him; the bundles of grain also bowed down to him. His family
would one day bow down to him.)
2. How did Joseph’s brothers react to his dreams? (They tried to kill him by throwing
him in a well but decided to sell him as a slave instead.)
3. How did God take care of Joseph in Egypt? (He blessed him by putting him in
charge in Potiphar’s house. He took care of him in prison and gave him an
opportunity to help Pharaoh. Pharaoh put him in charge of Egypt!)
4. How did Joseph’s dreams finally come true? (His family came to Egypt to buy
food. They bowed down to him and he was able to save them.)

MAKE IT REAL.
Genesis 50:20 says, “You intended to harm me, but God intended it all for good.
He brought me to this position so I could save the lives of many people.” God
used the bad things that happened to Joseph for his good and to one day save
his whole family! Joseph gave them food just when they needed it most!
There are many people in our community who need help, too! Take time to
dream about a way God might use you to help those in need. Draw a picture
and write about it on the page provided (or on blank paper).
*Challenge:
Pick one of the following activities to complete as a family this week:

Make goody bags to keep in your car to give to someone in need.
Include items like germ-x, toothbrushes, gas cards, food cards, candy,
granola bars, etc.
Collect coats or blankets to take to the local homeless shelter or other
organization that reaches out to those in need.
Collect non-perishable food items to donate to a local food bank.

PRAY.
Give your child the opportunity to pray for the needs of your family and others in
the community. Pray over your child that God would put a dream in their heart
that would help them do great things for Him! Pray for wisdom as your child
grows and that He would give them a heart to help others.
