Profile
Alongside studying, I like to engage in the arts and I am an advocate for The Prince’s
Foundation for Children and the Arts amongst other charities. I like to visit art galleries
whilst also painting and creating digital art which I then put up for sale with the proceeds
going to charity. I am a member of a youth fundraising team who raise money for various
charities through events such as soup kitchens. After being a part of this team for around
five years we have raised close to £6000 which has been split between charities that
range from Teenage Cancer Trust to a local hospice. Last year, I became part of a
campaign by Mind to raise awareness of the treatment of those with mental disabilities,
I exchanged emails and telephone conversations with a number of local councillors, MPs
and members of the House of Lords. This campaign sparked parliamentary debate which
led to new legislation being put in place that altered the welfare of the mentally disabled
for the better.
Experience

I was able to broaden my range of programming languages, including SQL and HTML. From

solving. I was also able to see a real business in action and inspect the way in which
computer systems were used for the daily running of the organisation.
Fort Vale Engineering, Simonstone
