EXT. COUNTRY ROAD - DAY
Farm land as far as the eye can see.
Center frame is a sign that reads: Sandigo
BARRY (V.O.)
We heard about this thing they’re
doing over in America, where all
these comic book types dress up and
pay all this money to meet
celebrities.
INT. SANDIGO HALL - DAY
The hall is old and small, the wooden floors unlacquered, the
paint peeling off the walls. A few tables are set up with
knitted and baked goods with grannies in shawls all working
behind them.
Barry, 50’s, a real country fella, stands center frame in his
large brimmed hat and good flannel shirt.
BARRY
The town hasn’t been doing so well
lately so we thought we’d have one
of our own. A Sandigo comic con.
Barry walks over to a young man in an old, too small star
wars shirt.
BARRY (CONT’D)
This is Shane, he’s our cosplay. He
has over 30 phantoms in his
bathroom.
Shane looks embarrassed.
INT. SANDIGO HALL BACK ROOM - TALKING HEAD
Shane tries to look nice for the camera, adjusting his shirt
to hide his stomach.
SHANE
Barry’s, always been so pro
Sandigo, He loves this place. He
wants it to thrive.
INT. SANDIGO HALL - CONTINUOUS
Barry walks to one of the Grannies.

Hi Barry.

BERYL

BARRY
How’s it going Beryl.
Barry turns back to the camera.
BARRY (CONT’D)
Beryl made special spiderman
cupcakes just for today.
Barry picks one up and shows the camera, its a grandmothers
interpretation of spiderman, slightly wrong colours, slightly
wring design, all the effort.
INT. SANDIGO HALL BACK ROOM - TALKING HEAD
BERYL
I’d never heard of a spideymen
before, but Barry really wanted
them. He gave me this Video of one
and I worked from that. I don’t
care for the green man.
INT. SANDIGO HALL - CONTINUOUS
Barry approaches another Granny, his watch beeps.
He looks at it.
BARRY
(calling out to everyone)
Looks like its time guys. Amanda
can you get the doors.
The camera a turns to a grumpy looking teenage girl, she
stand from her small plastic chair in a huff, sighs loudly
and stops over to the hall doors.
Light floods in, four nerdy looking country kids walk in
tentatively.
Barry looks down the barrel of the camera excitedly.
Customers!

BARRY (CONT’D)

Barry runs over to them, Amanda stops back to her seat.

BARRY (CONT’D)
Morning fellas, have you got your
badges, or do you need to buy some?
The four young guys look at each other confused.
BARRY (CONT’D)
Don’t worry guys, as your the first
in the door, I’ll give em to ya
half priced.
Shane runs over with a few pinned round badges, they parody
the San Diego comic con logo with Sandigo and a Gallah.
BARRY (CONT’D)
Thanks Shane, thatll be two bucks
each.
One of the guys hands over a $10 note.
BARRY (CONT’D)
Sorry son, do you have anything
smaller?
No.

NERD #1

BARRY
Hold on a sec.
(Yelling)
Beryl, you got any change luv?
Beryl sweetly leans down by her chair and picks up a tint
floral change purse, she slowly makes her way down to the
guys.
