Langley - Pastor Monthly Newsletter Jan./Feb. 2015 2015! A New Year! The New Year is always a time to reflect on the condition of your life over the last year and make plans for where you what to be at this time next year. What are your priorities? What are your goals? What are your plans for how to achieve them. Whatever you plan, remember this...you can’t get where you need to be without God at the very center of your life. As Christians, we all should make a fresh commit to serve God this year. We should commit to read our Bibles regularly, spend time in prayer daily, and attend church weekly. We must also make sure that we are taking responsibility for the Great Commission in our lives. God has called us to make disciples, and the church is the vehicle through which he accomplishes that purpose. We must all serve him in the church. Find your place of service. If you don't currently serve in the church, come see me, and I’ll help you get plugged in. And if you don’t regularly attend, you can’t serve. Get involved, come to church, and grow in the Lord! We are in the interview phase with Matt Cullum, from Missouri, for the position of Worship and Youth Pastor. You will get an opportunity to meet him on January 25 as he leads worship in the morning service. We will have a potluck fellowship following the service to spend some time with him and his family. Pray for Matt and his family and pray for our church as we seek God’s direction in this matter. Bro. Anthony Mission Statement First Baptist Church exists for the purpose of: Glorifying God in building His Kingdom, by enabling the lost to know Him though worship and witness, and equipping the saved to serve Him in maturity and ministry.  Even though we did not hold regular classes through December, our kids were still busy , busy, busy. They had songs to learn a play to rehearse and a party to attend. The play “Just a Little Christmas” was held December 14 in the am service, and it was a huge success. Every child in it was a star. There were about 15 who participated and were are so proud of each of them. Thanks for each of the adults who helped get them on stage, to Mysty Langley and Tabitha Burcham our narrators, and to all the parents who made sure their children were here. Our annual Christmas party was December 17th. It was lots of fun with hand crafted ornaments for each child to take home. Sarah Truelove read a book about the “Legend of the Candy Cane”, and how it relates to Jesus. Thanks to Kim Rolland and Megan Buchanan for organizing the party. The Children’s Workers The youth committee will be meeting in the next couple of weeks to finalize the calendar of youth events for the next few months. Bro. Casey Goode will continue to be a part of our Wednesday night services. We are also in the process of interviewing Matt Cullum for the position. We will keep you posted about all the activities and events ASAP. Thanks to all the parents who are stepping up to continue planning and implementing events for our youth. Bro. Lottie Moon Christmas Offering We will be taking up the Lottie Moon offering for 2 more weeks. Our goal is $6000.00 as of today we have received $6,006.00 Everyone please make welcome to our church Bro. Matt Cullum, his wife Lyndsay and their 4 daughters from Jefferson City, MO. They are coming to interview for the position of Worship and Youth minister. Bro. Matt will lead us in the AM service on the 25th with a fellowship meal afterwards.
