Support homeless and
low-income San Franciscans
on November 8
YES on Proposition I
(The Dignity Fund)
This measure ensures city funding for programs
for low income seniors and people living with
disabilities, including long term care, nutrition and
wellness initiatives, and senior centers.
The proportion of St. Anthony’s guests who are
seniors has increased markedly – a demographic
trend likely to continue. State funding for these
groups has been pared back and they now face real
difficulties providing for their basic needs.
YES on Proposition J
(Homeless Housing and Services Fund)
and K (General Sales Tax)
Ballot_draft3.indd 1
These companion initiatives provide for a 0.75%
sales tax increase, and for a fund that would
use sales tax revenue for homeless services and
transportation.
Although we don’t usually support regressive taxes,
this dedicated funding source will address the crisis
in our adult shelter system that leaves thousands
unprotected on the streets.
YES on Proposition 62
(Justice that Works Act)
This proposition repeals the death penalty in
California. Consistent with our Franciscan and
Catholic values, St. Anthony’s is opposed to the
death penalty because it does not prevent violence,
promote justice, or respect the dignity with which all
people have been created.
St. Anthony’s takes positions on a small number
of ballot measures that affect the low-income and
homeless San Franciscans we serve. We will not
benefit financially from their passage.
